Shindig, are you telling me than Crisp is gone in 2010 and he never even played for us?  That sucks, he should pay that money back.  Jacobs absolutely blows, but his career batting average is about 30 points higher than it was this year.  Hopefully, he just had a bad year and rebounds quickly, that way maybe the Royals can dump him on some other team.  Guillen should be back to normal form once he gets healthy.

The KC Star had a great article today regarding the salary issues the Royals are going to have going into the off-season.  They have 50 mil guaranteed, unfortunately 25 mil is wasted on Cruz, Farnsworth, Guillen, etc.  They have likely another 20 mil tied up with other players.  This means Crisp will not be back, Buck or Olivo has to go, Jacobs gone (YES).  Unfortunately with a payroll set for 70 mil, don't expect anybody to be added.  We'd better hope to get the production out of these FAs we didn't get anything out of this year.  I think the plan was to use these guys in trades but none of them did squat when it mattered.  We wasted a lot of payroll on bad performance and it won't be until the 2011 season to wash it all out.

There is quite a few of hitters on this team that of been very disappointing this year.  For me, Mike Jacobs stands out as the worst example of a hitter; he strikes out way too much and doesn't hit enough home runs.  But, the Royals have one of the most exciting young hitters in the game today; Billy Butler.  As long as he stays healthy he is going to be one of the best players in the league.

If Greinke stays with them and Luke Hochevar start pitching like a true number one pick, then the Royals will have a great starting rotation next year. Greinke,Meche,Hochevar,Davies, and Crow if they all pitch like their supposed to this is going to be a heck of a team next year.  They only need to add one good slugger, Adam Dunn would be nice, and they should be able to win the division.  The only bad part about this whole equation is, it depends on a whole lot of "if's".

Get the staff settled then clean house, bye to Buck, Jose' G., etc

They did come back! What a come back! First place! I thought they were going to be awesome! I thought this was the year they were going to be great contenders! Came in like an M-80 went out like one of those poppers kids step on the sidewalk! So tiresome, but I will root for them every year as always! Our babes in blue! I am afraid they are going to trade them off, one by one until all of our players will be spread out all over the nation. Disassemble the whole team like the Chief's did! What a great mistake that was. You didn't know any of them, didn't know who to root for. All rookies for Christ's sake! How did they think a whole team of rookies were going to play against long time, experienced players?

MLB's professional farm club, aka KC Royals, are a study in how not to run a ball club. Sure, one can sing praises that the Royals are not a super-funded, rich market club...they're a club of inegrity. But after all that BS is over just study the facts: championship clubs must be built around a solid pitching core...that includes SPs, middle relief and more than one great closer.

But you also need a club that hits more than .225 team average too. Add a couple of clutch hitters to the line up.

So how do mediocre teams manage to win, take the Phillies, the Rays of last year. They have a chemistry, coaching and a feeling of destiny....

That's what winning clubs have.

Oh yeah....while I'm wishfful thinking....you need a great deal of luck too.
