THERE IS NO ONE IN THE MLB CIRCLE THAT WILL TAKE A CHANCE ON AN INJURED GUY WHO CAN HIT DOUBLES AND SINGLES. IF HE WAS A POWER HITTER OR A MAGICIAN AT FIRST BASE WITH THE GLOVE YES BUT HE IS NEITHER UNFORTUNATE TO SAY BUT I BELIEVE HIS CAREER IS DONE.

Yeah, they can't afford a DH for $11 million who is injury prone. Pure and simple, even if the possibility exists that he'll have a nice rebound year somewhere new.

Sweeney is a nice guy, and he had some great years as a hitter

I honestly wish him well. But the fact is that the DH space and a fair-sized contract are both freed up, meaning that the Royals have a chance to explore the market as buyers for once, or reinvest in player development.

If you didn't know, Mike Sweeney took out a full page ad in the KC Star on Sunday thanking the fans and the organization (top to bottom) for his time in KC. He is a class act and one of the good guys.
