All orioles have to do is get to 500 and i think it is all downhill from there where they can finally get out of their worst decade in the teams history.

I think Wright will have a solid year. Reuniting him with Mazzone may be just what he needs. His last good season was in Atlanta 3 years ago. Bedard will probably be solid again. Cabrera is either lights out of terrible. He needs to learn consistency. There pitching still needs a lot of help, then they can worry about hitting.

Sorry to disagree with you but we only had once real decent pitcher back then and that was Mussina. All the rest were over the hill add ons (we should have gotten Jimmy Key long before the yankees washed him up and Erickson long before he used up most of what he had with the Twins. But now we're in for a boatload of poo....we need pitching and the current owner and staff just can't get that thru their fat heads

First of all I never said that hitting 20 homers meant that you are a power hitter. Second, now that the Orioles have Aubrey Huff things look a lot better. With Cabrera, Bedard, and Loewen developing into great pitchers things are looking good for the pitching, plus we added some key relievers in Baez and Bradford. I would like for the O's to trade for Adam Laroche though, with him being a lefty I think he would do great in Camden Yards. Heres a look at the pitching staff: 1. Erik Bedard 2. Kris Benson 3. Jaret Wright 4. Daniel Cabrera 5. Adam Loewen I think that's a pretty darn good pitching staff.

Twenty homers does not classify someone as a Power Hitter, the orioles had more clutch hitters then power hitters and the reason they won the games were do to key pitching and timely hitting not trying to over-power the other teams. Look what got the braves to so many East titles and most World Series teams are known more for there pitching rotation then for there line-up excluding some the Yankees powerful lineups. But when you have that much money you can buy a World Series. The Orioles still need a #1 pitcher they havnt had a key game pitcher since Mussina left.

Well I realize that you have to have good pitching in order to win, but you have to be able to score runs in order to keep up with the other team. I think the O's need to add a power hitter. You even said that in their starting lineup everyone had 20 homers so thanks for backing me up you idiot. :p

Im not worried about Angelos and the bats... Angelos needs to get PITCHING.
When the O's went to the playoffs twice in the 90's they had one important thing... PITCHING.
Sure, one year every person in the starting lineup had at least 20HR on the season (though not all with the O's) but they also had a good PITCHING staff.
Big power hitters dont matter when you are giving up 9 runs in a game.

I also think that as of now the O's will not win more than 75 games, but there still is the possibility of them adding a big bat, but I doubt Angelos will fork out the money needed for a good power hitter.

Baltimore still has something to play for: pride.
Playing spoiler 2 days in a row over 2 playoff teams (Det, Min) and could really shake up the playoff movement.
Melvin Mora: Best guy you've never heard of.
There pitching hasn't improved though even with the new pitching coach.
I predict 70-75 wins next year.
