The #1 LSU Tigers lose to #17 Kentucky Wildcats 37-43 in triple OT. The Tigers went for it on 4th and 2 and was stopped cold. Probably the biggest mistake by coach Les Miles in this game was not playing QB Ryan Perrilloux on that last play in overtime. Perrilloux would have gave Kentucky something else to think about. Any High School coach would know that LSU was going to run the ball.
Kentucky played about as good as any team could have played in this game. The offensive line gave QB andre Woodson the protection he needed throughout this game and Woodson on a number of occassions placed the ball where it needed to be. The running game came through also when they needed it the most.
This stunning upset will no doubt once again have the whole college world shook up again this week. Cal and Ohio St. will no doubt in my mind be the new #1 and #2 in the polls. Where they fall, well your guess is as good as mine. This was a huge win for Kentucky as it not only shows that they can compete with the big boys but it also keeps them in the hunt for an SEC title match possibly against these same Tigers.
This one was just as exciting as last weeks game between Florida and LSU. Which is the team the Wildcats must play next week. This should be a huge confidence boost for them, Florida better bring their A game because these young men from Kentucky are for real.
The question now is how far does LSU drop and how far does Kentucky move up in the polls? I don't think LSU will drop as hard as USC did when they lost to Stanford last week. Then again we have seen alot of things go on in the polls that had us dumbfounded.
It's been an exciting season so far, although a sad one for Tiger fans like myself. Hold on to your hats though because I promise it's not over yet. I'm already looking foward to next weeks games. So congratulations to the Kentucky Wildcats and their fans, you deserve it. Though just as Coach Urban Myer said about his Florida Gators, we will be back also. Only unlike him I guarantee it.
Geaux Tigers!!!
