Another Ref hands France the win...horrible call!

Wednesday, July 5, 2006, 03:16 PM EST [General]

    Portugal was robbed

The ref took that game in his hands and gave it to France.

It strikes me as funny to see how both the teams in the final got here with a dive in the box...

France was outplayed by Portugal the whole game, if it wasn't for the fact that France had a PK to sit on Portugal would have gone to the final.

This is a pathetic and blatantly obvious gift to France.

[Portuguese Soccer Team] Constantly spit on by the world

Sunday, July 2, 2006, 03:15 PM EST [General]

Recently I was watching Univision because they were doing a special on all the teams currently remaining in the World Cup. They showed the opponents that were faced, the players and their struggles, etc. Just what you would expect from a special for any sport that is this close to the championship.

    Well almost...

First they did Germany, then Italy, then France, but when they got to the point when it seemed they were going to talk about Portugal this is what they said:

We are not reporting on Portugal because they are not going any further so there is no point.

The CNN or BBC of the Spanish speaking world and they spit on Portugal.

Words cannot explain how I feel. Anger is not enough, Rage is not enough, pure hatred and shock is not enough.

Don't be mistaken though, its not just Univision, it's the whole world that disrespects Portugal.

The Portuguese community has had to deal with this forever. It pains me to know that the world looks down their noses at us.  Year after year, journalist after journalist, Sports writer after Sports writer disrespects Portugal and when you disrespect the team you disrespect the country and its people around the globe.

Alexi Lalas commentated on Portugal before the Portugal Vs Netherlands game. He was asked about the team and he responded:

"I'm sick and tired of hearing about Portugal"

That's what we have to hear. The entire soccer community responds to Portugal the same way again and again. It's only a matter of time that they lose right?

I won't lie to you, I'm not confident about Portugal facing France but I know that they have overcome many hurdles to get this far and I'm proud regardless

But that's not enough for the rest of the world. I can see the reactions now

"See! What did I tell you! Portugal loses" if they win the World will expect a loss in the Final. Come on they've never won one! Why would they start now?

I just can't take having to listen to people spit on us anymore.

Just so you know if Portugal loses its not because they are undeserving its just because France is better and sometimes teams are just better.

[Portugal vs England] Best recap! Horns down!

Sunday, July 2, 2006, 09:53 AM EST [General]

Lets recap what all the commotion was about this game.

    1.

Did England expect to throw Portugal out of the World Cup?

Not with a coach like Scolari...

His record with England is now 3-0...but why wouldn't he have a perfect record.

    2.

Ricardo saved all but one penalty kick (but he still got a touch on it)

His performance was amazing and he proves that he is apart of the worlds elite goal keepers. If he keeps it up Portugal might make it past France.

    3.

There have been some questions on what will happen between Ronaldo and Rooney because of allegations that the ref only gave Rooney the card because Ronaldo convinced him.

But whatever happened Ronaldo made the right decision...he knows that you never take sides against the family.

    4.

Rooney seemed to have trouble figuring out which balls to kick.

    5.

Yup, I was right folks. Beckham missed all his free kick attempts so England did not have a chance. Other than Beckham's free kick scoring they don't know another way of getting the ball in the net.

Well that's it everyone! Portugal walks away with the win and deserve a round of applause!

Next up is France. My heart says France doesn't stand a chance but my head says...Smiley

[Penalty Kicks vs Golden Goal] If it were up to you...

Friday, June 30, 2006, 06:07 PM EST [Soccer]

After watching the Argentina vs. Germany game I still don't like a game coming to penalty kicks. Why the Golden Goal rule hasn't been adopted into the world cup is beyond me.

I just feel like teams would have more control over the outcome of the game.

The way I see it teams should have an additional 20 minutes of overtime then after that if the game is still tied up the next team to score wins.

If it were up to you would you leave it at penalty kicks or would you rather see the Golden Goal rule decide the match?

    Portugal vs England (good read)

Thursday, June 29, 2006, 01:52 PM EST [Portugal]

Portugal is no doubt an underdog in this one and frankly I whole heartedly understand why. Portugal is a team that is always good but unfortunately just not good enough.

You might be thinking well sure they're doing great just like they always do so what's stopping them from just missing like they always do. I'm not going to lie to you folks, when I look at the long run I don't like Portugal's chances. Right now, however, I am just looking at their chances against England and for the most part I like what I see.

Both Portugal and England are going into this game with some complications.

Portugal is without Deco. This is the only reason I'm nervous about this match because with him Portugal would have had all their key players.

In the match against Ecuador I saw something that made me laugh and feel a little bit better about the upcoming match.

It was David Beckham throwing up in the middle of the field. Sure he can take a free kick like a god but it amazes me that England has come this far with a player on the field just because he's a good fee kick taker. So unless England can get a free kick near the box they don't have a chance? What's up with that?

    Oh and one more thing...

I hope that England doesn't plan on pissing anyone off...cause they might just get their ass beat...literally.

Well that's just a few of my thoughts I decided to throw out there but don't let me do all the talking.
