Pistons Beaten Like a Redd Headed Stepchild

Sunday, April 30, 2006, 12:10 AM EST [DAILY NOTES]

Was I watching Arena League Basketball by mistake?  Excuse me if I stand while typing this I just got spanked like the Pistons.  I had my galvanized bucket full of Piston adjectives ready to go.
Lunch pail, blue collar, gritty, afterburner, and flipped the switch.

Instead I had to go the the Word Depot and buy stomped, humbled, humiliated (thanks Shaq), schooled, pasted and lucky for me they were having a two-for-one sale on beaten senseless.

    124-104?
Is this the "Detroit"  Detroit Pistons?

Michael Redd scorched them for 40.
To put that in perspective he outscored Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, and  Rip Hamilton combined by 5 points.

On the Pistons side it was Chauncey Phillips' 26 points and move along folks there's nothing else to see.

The Milwaukee Bucks outscored them 12-2 in the paint in the 1st and the Pistons were completely asleep with 2 minutes to go in the 2nd before throwing all four paws and one elbow to the ceiling in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

To give you an idea of how laughable this game was Tony Kukoc took time off from his back spasms to drop 10 points and 6 assists on the hapless Pistons.

The only thing that cheered me up tonight was seeing the Clippers Chris Kaman wearing black sneakers, black socks and a red uniform.
He looked liked a ringer from the Senior Citizens League.
Maybe it's his tribute to his beloved alma mater the Clown Academy.

Then Denver's Reggie Evans goes for the gusto giving Kaman a yanking hernia exam from behind and gets shoved to the floor.
It was a classic NBA Kodak moment.
I can only hope Evans told Kaman "Turn your head and cough..."
