    Jeremy Mayfield Justice Delayed

Thursday, July 2, 2009, 12:30 AM EST [NASCAR]

I'm glad a a federal judge got right what NASCAR seems recklessly unaware of, that taking Claritan D, which contains antihistamines will result in a false positive for methamphetimines.  That is a conclusion supported by every ounce of data you can find searching the internet.  A monkey with a typewriter at NASCAR could have pointed this out.

Did any of his crew notice him riding the crystal meth train to oblivion?  Did they have anecdotal evidence like a family member or friend say, "Bless his heart he's a good man but when he powders his nose he'd steal your TV set for another bump of the devil's dandruff..."

Why has NASCAR been so recalcitrant in understanding this?  If this had been Dale Jr., Smoke, or Jimmie, NASCAR wouldn't have batted an eye and swept it under the rug, but since Mayfield is in that pesky class of underfunded/unsponsored drivers NASCAR decided damn the consequences--full speed ahead, let's kill a fly with a Hydrogen bomb.

I'm not advocating junkies hurtling around a track ringed by spectators at 200mph, but a cogent, thoughtful examination of such an aberrant test result might have better served NASCAR purposes and sure as hell spared Mayfield the professional embarrassment.

Now if Mayfield finds a ride and wins at Daytona I suspect "Crack" might join Smoke and Fireball in the pantheon of NASCAR greats...

    Great points, Mr. H.

Why are your blogs hiding to the left of the screen?

Great scribble EH. NASCAR continues to prove that they must have an F1 or IRL spy working as head of their Public Relations division.

BTW volfan, the blogs are hidden on the right side of my screen. Maybe if we could just average the two locations together, they'd end up where they should be - lol.

    Hoosier,

Thanks, I have to agree with you, it seems like the worst NASCAR marketing blunder since they tried strapping fans to the hoods of the cars the 1977-78 Winston Cup series...

Give me a break, Mayfield could have cleared this all up by going to a lap and had his hair tested which is much more accurate the the piss test. and since he already pissed "away" the samples from when this all went down, he has had a hand in his own demize, He should have gone the extra mile to get this done right. but 2 labs say his piss tests show he is a methhead. The public is turning against him,
he fought so hard to get his suspension lifted and then he doesn't even show up at Daytona, what bad advise was he getting from attorney's/advisors ? People on other sites that I'm on think that when the judge said NASCAR can test evey part of his body including his "hair" if he shows up at Daytona that is when Mayfield got scared of being found out to be a methhead. He is shooting himself in his own foot by not yelling in front of every lab to test his hair samples and prove that he is not a methhead. I'm (for a change) behind NASCAR on this one.
