I do remember the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, and not only was it fun following the Americans, but it was cool to see the Finns and Swedes and Czechs excel on the world stage, too.
The Soviets and Canadians may own the ice, but the rest of us can enjoy it, too.
And yeah, Scandinavia and Alaska have their Arctic pleasures as well.
It isn't all Ellesmere and Victoria and Baffin and Nova Zymala.

I enjoyed watching Dominic Hasek stop all those shots and cause about 5 OTs a few years ago in the Stanley Cup playoffs. I didn't watch every EVERY minute on my TV, but it was fun to go back to that channel as the night wore on.

I really enjoy a bloody brawl now and again.
Usually I see this in boxing or even UFC, but sometimes the crimson on ice is somewhat refreshing.

I happen to love basketball and football and baseball, and even the occasional tennis and soccer match.
I undertand the team loyalty and the attachment to the players.
