About Me: I have lived in different areas and am faithful to their passions, give or take. Born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana (1970-1989). Knight was a central figure. I then lived in Chile, where soccer became impressed upon me more than before. Returned to South America in 2005 with my then small family of wife and two girls.
I love American football, b-ball, baseball, and more sports...

I am not a Huge Hockey Fan, but...

Thursday, November 13, 2008, 05:52 PM EST [NHL]

I am not a Huge Hockey Fan, but...

I do remember the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, and not only was it fun following the Americans, but it was cool to see the Finns and Swedes and Czechs excel on the world stage, too.

The Soviets and Canadians may own the ice, but the rest of us can enjoy it, too.

And yeah, Scandinavia and Alaska have their Arctic pleasures as well.

It isn't all Ellesmere and Victoria and Baffin and Nova Zymala.

I am not a Huge Hockey Fan, but...

I enjoyed watching Dominic Hasek stop all those shots and cause about 5 OTs a few years ago in the Stanley Cup playoffs. I didn't watch every EVERY minute on my TV, but it was fun to go back to that channel as the night wore on.

I am not a Huge Hockey Fan, but...

I really enjoy a bloody brawl now and again.

Usually I see this in boxing or even UFC, but sometimes the crimson on ice is somewhat refreshing.

And a penalty box brings me back to kindergarten; that really flips a switch in me.

You broke the rules, bro. Time for a...

    POWER PLAY!

I am not a Huge Hockey Fan, but...

I understand the irrational enthusiam and devotion.

I happen to love basketball and football and baseball, and even the occasional tennis and soccer match.

I undertand the team loyalty and the attachment to the players.

I am not a Huge Hockey Fan, but...

I would love to be read by more hockey fans.

    On the blogosphere!

    Thanks for dropping by.

PS: I do love Canadians, but it is nice to see a few underdogs snatch victory once in while. I have had family in Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. And I really appreciate Anne of Green Gables. Do you need more proof?

I grew up a Montreal Expo fan! Yupie!!!!

PPS: When will hockey catch on in Latin America?
