About Me: I have lived in different areas and am faithful to their passions, give or take. Born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana (1970-1989). Knight was a central figure. I then lived in Chile, where soccer became impressed upon me more than before. Returned to South America in 2005 with my then small family of wife and two girls.
I love American football, b-ball, baseball, and more sports...

Can Indiana Go 3-0 in Akron?

Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 10:50 PM EST [NCAA FB]

    A resounding yes!

    More later.

    Okay, it's later.

They struggled to beat Eastern Kentucky and Western Michigan, but they might be improving...

EKU is not a bad FCS team. WMU may not be bad either.

Can the Hoosiers win in this new 30,000 seat stadium? I was going to go to Ohio to see the game, but my work callls...

What is going on with your hopes and duties this weekend?

2001---Part 3 In the Series, The Cup Runneth Under...

Saturday, December 31, 2005, 02:28 PM EST [NCAA FB]

2001    My second year of public teaching was tough as normal in San Bernardino, California. (It helped being married, however.) Part of the joy I managed to experience as a public school servant was the camaraderie with my fellow teachers, especially at lunch, talking primarily about sports. I had followed IU close enough to know that they were capable of doing some good things in the tournament. The new coach Davis had lead them to victories against the then number one Michigan State, other solid wins, and within a couple points of the Big Ten Tourney championship. My teachers' pool picks suffered greatly from their first round upset to Kent State, but not as much as my pride and optimism for a new Hoosier system. A system that would mean getting past the first round, hopefully. No, not this year, despite leading by double figures in the second half, they lost! Injuries were too great to overcome.  Injuries to the heart of a fan will last for a long time as well.

Duke getting their third championship did not help matters much, either. I wanted Arizona for a second ring rather than Coach K. Before that I wanted Michigan State or anyone but the big powers. Coach K definitely has his legacy cemented.  Losing Knight was amazing and emotional, but the school remained what it is supposed to be: a place for good or possibly great teams. The players stayed together like heroes.
