We are one human race...different cultures.
Perhaps taking a little inspiration from Flying Pig and Demonicume, and then hearing about Mr. Culpepper as a tried and true leader, I wish to make a few optimistic comments about the "races"...
1. More blacks are in positions of leadership in the US than ever before. Perhaps it is not proportional as it should be, but it is improving. Sure, sports is a visible area to witness this in the number of managers, coaches and even QBs, but it is going on every where! Right?
The steady and kind doctor who removed my diseased gall bladder in 2002 was black. I think he did a good job. I survived it fine and I am fine now. Lawyers, scientists, politicians, managers, owners. Across the board, the American dream is happening. MLK lives.
But the incarceration rates and the murders must go down still...It is a slow genocide in some ways. Okay, too negative there, but my point: things are improving!
2. Hispanics, legal or no, are getting ahead. They work and save and get educated and get ahead. Similar to all our previous immigrant populations...Italians, Poles, Jews, Irish, Chinese...
The gang thing is bad, but...
They assimilate, despite the Spanish speaking enclaves and the rise of Spanish media. The remittances are helping back home. And we all come together and become a bit more like each other, in food, dance and pop culture...
3. Asians are doing it big time: Philipinos, Pakis, Indians, Koreans, Vietnamese, etc... And not just gas stations and convenience stores or manicure or laundry shops: these groups are becoming the most educated. Even Dat Nguyen makes the Cowboys.... Is he a succesful businessman by now?
4. What about Anglo Saxons? They are doing all right, and the majority are generally progressing economically while becoming the demographic minority. Our nation is becoming much more diverse everyday.
5. And then there are us American Indians. Well, there are many postives. Too much booze and poverty and gambling in some areas, but overall better than ever. The new museum in DC is another sign of our comeuppance. And the Redskins will change their name eventually.
And this is positive.
I've been working with the Department of Housing the last two months, and I see a lot of diverse leadership from across the board. This is good, and I hope this trend is going on everywhere.

Good night America. We are losing some good people in the Middle East on a daily basis but things could be worse... We lose a lot more on our roads every day, not to mention tobacco products...
Drive safely and consider the Word of Wisdom.
Things are all right in 2006. It could be 1968... And I am happy to be alive and blogging, right now.
Celebrate our diversity.
And live another day, going a bit further...
