Most of us bloggers around here are unabashed Yankees--- that is to say we are citizens of the United States of America.
We love the "American Dream", which is typified by baseball, hot dogs and apple pie. Mom, too, if you must be technical.
Only a few societies have ever attacked their own mothers, and these might include a few genocides across the globe.
To be absolutely fair, historically the USA was not the best preservers of motherhood during slavery or our tragic conflicts with the American Indians. And to the degree that we individually or collectively do not take care of our mothers or parents, we have decidely turned less than patriotic or worthy of our status as true blue good ole United States patriots, land of the free and home of the brave.
What good do freedom and bravery do if we cannot even take care of those who have created and nurtured us?
Hot dogs and apple pie.
Pork and bread, ketchup and mustard and relish.
All right, kielbasa and wienerschnitzel. Frankfurters and bratwurst, and all the other wursts.
We, as non kosher Americana, thrive on pigs and their multitudinous products: BLT, Sausage Egg McMuffin, Ham Sandwiches, BBQ Ribs, Honey Glazed Ham for the holidays...
SPAM! Hot diggety dog!
This is part and parcel of our greatness.
Pork chops and apple sauce!
Did you say apples?
Johnny Appleseed had it right.
Apples are abundant in every place you go...
And they are the apples of our eyes.
Good health and prosperity. Apples.
What state does not grow apples? Alaska? Even they must have a summer crop I would think...How about indoor arboretums and greenhouse.
Sure Alaska has apples growing most of the year...
And baseball.
It's American.
It's so American that it is hugely popular across parts of the world like the islands of Dominican Republic, Cuba, Taiwan and Japan...
We can export something successfully: culture.
And sport. Not talking about basketball or American football, we know it is growing, the American Yankee game.
It is played in the bullfighting culture of Colombia. Next door in Venezuela, where wanna be Comrade Hugo reigns, they play it as well.
Central America plays baseball. We have pros from Panama to Mexico.
The west coast of Mexico has its own league. In places like Guasave and Culiacan.
Even Canada has baseball! And not just the Jays and the former Montreal 'Spos. Larry Walker was from there. Look at his life time numbers.
There are Australians who play in the majors.
And Koreans, too.
What about Europe? India? The Middle East? China?
Africa, the last frontier?
Don't worry Amerikanskis: we know how to make a field into a diamond.
And all those places have plenty of fields.
I can't wait to see a seven foot pitcher from Kazakhstan.
Or Chinese ESPN.
Clinch rogering...away.
