About Me: I have lived in different areas and am faithful to their passions, give or take. Born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana (1970-1989). Knight was a central figure. I then lived in Chile, where soccer became impressed upon me more than before. Returned to South America in 2005 with my then small family of wife and two girls. I love American football, b-ball, baseball, and more sports... How long does this profile go? It's all good. Except: where in the cyberuniverse are all the comments from the last four years???!!!!

    The rest...of the cities--unfinished

    Saturday, December 31, 2005, 11:00 AM EST [All CFA +eams (as of 2004--no ]

So where are the rest of these 86 major college programs, and how many of them are located in cities of more than 100,000 inhabitants?

Let's look at this in reverse order of the biggest Division I states to the smallest with only one major program.

Texas: Of the 10 programs, most are claimed by the major metropolitan areas of Houston (2), Dallas (3), Austin (1) and El Paso (1). That leaves three:

Texas Tech: in Lubbock                                    200,000 residents         rank: 92nd

Baylor: in Waco                                                114,000 residents         rank: 201st

Texas A & M: in College Station                       less than 100 thousand

Ohio: Of the 8 programs, only one is in the top 50 major cities, Columbus (1).

Seven of the programs are in smaller markets:

Cincinnati: in Cincinnati                         331,000 residents         rank: 55th

Toledo: in Toledo                                             313,000 residents         rank: 57th

Akron: in Akron                                               217,000 residents         rank: 82nd

    Miami: in Oxford

    Ohio: in Chillicothe

    Bowling Green: in Bowling Green

    Kent State: in Kent
