Nothing makes me more happy than seeing Clemens struggle

Thursday, June 28, 2007, 10:01 AM EST [Roger Clemens]

I don't know what is better...Seeing Clemens struggle mightily as he has so far in his second stint with the Yanks, or knowing that Steinbrenner is shelling out as much as he is for yet another underachiever on a roster plum full of them.

Don't get me wrong, I like Clemens.  Or liked Clemens.  He could have come back to a team and fans that treated him like gold during his short-lived Astros career.  Instead he follows the money.  Ahhh, the money!  Its so alluring.  That sweet green.  As if 18 mill for 4 months of pitching isn't enough.  He needs more!  More i say!

He, and the Yankees, are getting exactly what their greedy asses deserve.  Possibly its a hangover from pitching in the National League the last few years.  Most experts say that the difference in level of hitters becomes very apparent when a pitcher goes from one league to another.  Either way I couldn't help but grin when i learned that not only did Clemens miss his 350th win last night, but also had his consecutive games started with a strikeout streak end at 200.  A very impressive streak indeed.  Nonetheless, his Yanks are playing at nowhere near the level they should be playing at.  Why?  Possibly they are underachieving.  Or dare i say, possibly they just aren't that good....

Either way Clemens might come to realize that money doesn't always buy happiness.  Playing on a team that isn't going anywhere definitely will not make a player happy.  And at this stage in his career, maybe he should worry less about the green and more about the W's.
