The BCS deserves the same fate as the Middle East...

So I've been called out? Truth be told, I find the college bowl game/BCS discussion as invigorating a topic as the Middle East. in both cases, there'll never be a resolution amenable to all sides, so the only solution is to blow the whole thing up. It's like when two siblings can't share a new toy, so a parent has to take it away from both, lock it in a closet, and remind you every five minutes, "If you learned how to share, you could both enjoy the X-wing fighter."

The Germans systematically eliminate the Jews? OK, the way to repair that is to give them a homeland in Palestine. Yeah, real good solution.

The powers that be insist on giving Notre Dame preferential treatment when it comes to bowl bids and television deals? Well, who cares what's fair, we want wants profitable. And keeping the Irish happy is profitable.Yeah, real good solution.

Texas and USC will be an awesome national championship game, don't get me wrong. Three Heisman finalists, 98,000 fans (from two schools whose student bodies are ridiculously handsome), and good celebrity rooting sections on each side, with "Wooderson" from Dazed & Confused and Earl Campbell on the Longhorn side, and Will Ferrell and O.J. Simpson on the other. I'm psyched, and believe me that's saying something. I went to Vanderbilt, where students associate bowl games with swag weed.

But seriously, who cares what happens in any other bowl but the Rose? Ohio State/Notre Dame? Big freakin' deal. Fortunately the two best teams are in the title game, so let's just enjoy that. Otherwise, I suggest we ignore the other bowls -- and, as much as possible, the Middle East.
