Storm Front: Injuries and the Flu

Thursday, February 14, 2008, 06:09 PM EST [Keith Aucoin]

(Top/Left to Right): Keith Aucoin, Ryan Bayda, Wade Brookbank; (Bottom/Left to Right): Casey Borer, Tim Conboy, Joey Mormina

The Canes make a trade with Ottawa on Monday for Patrick Eaves and Joe Corvo. Eaves is injured and will be out for awhile. Corvo actually helps the Canes win in Boston on Tuesday and then comes down with the flu and can't play on Thursday. Sounds like the normal Hurricane's luck for this season.

The flu bug has bitten the Canes again for the second time this season. This time they lose Tim Gleason and Joe Corvo to the flu. They have also lost Bret Hedican to a lower body injury. Add that to Patrick Eaves (shoulder/neck), Chad LaRose (broken leg), Matt Cullen (vision problems from a concussion), Dennis Seidenberg (ankle injury), David Tanabe (concussion), Justin Williams (ACL/MCL), and you can get a feeling of how beat up this team actually is. Dennis Seidenberg, Matt Cullen, and Patrick Eaves were placed on injured reserved so that Casey Borer, Tim Conboy, and Joey Mormina could be brought up from the Albany River Rats (AHL). It seems like Carolina has bounced more players between Albany and Raleigh than ever before.
