This is one of those "let's pretend I heard it on the radio" posts. Because the Food Network's Chocolathon had ended, I tuned in to see the NBA. The Wizards were visiting the Suns. Dan Schulman asked Jon Barry to assess the Wizards' chances in the East, assuming they get Arenas back for the playoffs. "This team can beat anyone in the East - except for Detroit or Boston."
There are two levels of nonsense at work here. It's early to call, but in all likelihood, the East is going 1-2 to Boston and Detroit (or vice versa). This means that these teams will be on opposite sides of the bracket. With the Arenas injury, the 'zards have lost too much ground on Orlando to get the third slot, and the fourth/fifth slots are mathematically there, but better teams occupy them right now. This means that the Wizards' highest finish will likely be sixth. If they get to the second round, guess who they play... So Jon Barry's qualified endorsement essentially means, the best they can do is get to the second round.
The other level of nonsense? The first time the Wizards beat anybody in the East Except for Detroit or Boston
Oh wait...Well the 'zards have lost seven in a row. Time to shoot free throws underhanded perhaps?
