    Unfortunately, Bobby, that is in fact the likeliest motivation for Hart’s approach to the tournament. To the extent that Maestracci et al haven’t made a priority of the need to build for 2014, and clearly communicated it to Hart, this highlights what would seem to be the CSA’s equally unfortunate shortsighted perspective.

    And right you are that Friend is still injured -- it seems I should have dug deeper regarding some chatter that Hart excluded him because of the need to deploy a formation that didn’t depend on crossing the ball, which we purportedly lack the talent to do.

    msebold - I would guess that Hart is more interested in success now rather than later if he wants a shot at the top position.
    My understanding is that Rob Friend is injured.

    Great start to the Gold Cup. Petty we couldn't beat Jamaica in WC qualification. To the Yanks, Happy Independence day.
