I notice that the picture in the comments has my mouth cut off - perhaps not a bad thing.

I am getting to like this new format, as the bugs get worked out.
stujonesmdI think both Inter and Barca got what they needed in that big trade. Now to watch the fun....
The big midwest tournament noted in this post is but one of a whole bunch played regionally, which contribute to the fact that we now have more US youth playing football than little league baseball (!??!--who woulda ever thought?...)
This is where a lot of the future US players will come from, and many directly through pro development programs, not college (a novelty in the USA, a commonplace everywhere else). It is not the MLS that will do this but the USL, as well as US Soccer if it continues to improve its own development program. At the moment, the prospect for a good U17 player is: join USL, develop your game and see the USA, Canada and parts of the Caribbean. Then join MLS and see more of same plus maybe some overseas exhibitions. Do well in MLS, maybe see the rest of the world, and make a ton of $$. Now that, to an ambitious youngster, is an adventure worth trying for.
