    Vickcenter Network Ready To Launch

Sunday, August 23, 2009, 02:18 PM EST [NFL]

Get ready now because if you had a moment in your life when you realized you have had enough of Michael Vick. Just wait. There will be a two week window of MEGAcoverage. NFL live will be on location with locker room coverage from Ed Werder. I say this to you now so you can brace yourself. I'm somewhat surprised over the lack of sportstalk about week 13 in the NFL.

Week 13 is when Michael Vick's Philadelphia Eagles travel back to face Vick's former team the Atlanta Falcons. It has Monday Night Football written all over it but it is set for Sunday December 6th 1pm. Maybe the NFL isn't exactly excited this game is on the schedule. Especially with the game being in Atlanta.

I'm not sure when ESPN's Monday Night Football's flex scheduling starts but you can guarantee they will be trying to add this game! Especially if Vick is making an impact with the Eagles. Who knows with Donavon McNabb's injury history he could be starting by then. Until then get ready, you have been warned!

NFL Blackout Rule is a Mistake

Saturday, August 8, 2009, 10:26 PM EST [NFL]

Comissioner Roger Goodell stopped into Detroit Lions camp Saturday and said he didn't think Detroit was in danger of losing the Thanksgiving game. He did say the league will not alter its blackout policy. Five Lions games were not broadcast on local television last season because tickets to those games did not sell out. They were the first blacked out Lions games since the team moved to Ford Field in 2002.

Blackouts are a big mistake.  The NFL misses a chance of putting its product on TV to an entire market with ad revenue.  Why would the NFL even consider this as an option.  No other sport does this.  The ad revenue alone would be worth it.  The same amount of people will go to the games anyway.  The better the team is the harder the tickets are to get.

The NFL is pricing out the average fan more and more every year.  This year the Detroit Lions off an 0-16 season will sell you the following items feel as if two hot dogs and a pop for $17 and $9 beers are ok.  Not with me.  I will watch them for free until they get blacked out again.  Then I will just do something constructive on that Sunday.

The Lions are clearly rebuilding after an 0-16 season.  They have new coaches and about 50% new players.  Why aren't the tickets sold at rebuilding price?

    Matt Stafford

Sunday, August 2, 2009, 01:22 AM EST [NFL]

As the 2009 version of the Detroit Lions rolled out on Friday so did the new era.  The only way this team goes from here is up.  They were the preseason champs at 4-0 and the completely defeated 0-16 bottom feeders.

Matt Stafford is likely going to start very early in the season.  He could even be the opening day starting quarterback.  He is the first QB pick the Lions have had that I like.  He has been the man his whole life leading up to this moment.  It could have been worse.  They could have drafted Tim Tebow instead if he had come out.  What a disaster that would have been.

Matt Stafford will have the Lions in the playoffs in three years.  That is my prediction.

The Lions also picked up several key veterans Larry Foote, Jon Jansen, and Julian Peterson.  They now have a dynamic set of three linebackers.  All three are top players.  If Jon Jansen can give the Lions 14 starts this year the Lions will run and pass the ball better with one more solid blocker.  Four of the Lions five lineman are solid and drafting TE Brandon Pettigrew who may blossom about the same time as Stafford.

I have been away from this community for a while because of the changeover and then a computer crash.  I am all set up now.

    More safe picks in 2006?

Thursday, April 27, 2006, 12:06 PM EST [NFL]

#1 to the TexansBush will go #1 to the Texans

This year in the 2006 Nfl draft it appears that there are more safe picks in round 1 than in years past.  Even with the top five to ten players there seems to be more stability with some of these players.  Reggie Bush will go number one and Mario Williams will go number two.  That may be the way it goes down but, we may have someone other than the New Orleans Saints picking at two.  New Orleans hold a key piece to the puzzle of what will happen in the top ten.

The Vikings and Rams have both expressed interest in Detroits pick at number nine to move ahead of Arizona and take Jay Cutler from Vanderbilt.  Detroit is interested in Michael Huff and that will factor in what they will do with the no.9 pick.  They also like Ernie Sims the LB from Florida State.  He has had five concussions and that will be a risk factor for which ever team drafts him.  The upside is that he is compared to Derrick Brooks from Tampa Bay.

The Jets are rumored to like Matt Leinart, but D'Brickshaw Ferguson may be the safest pick in the entire draft.  Besides the Jets just traded for Patrick Ramsey and already have Chad Pennington.  They need someone to block for these guys is what they really need.  Look for the Jets to take D'Brickshaw Ferguson with their first round pick.

The Bills appear to be willing to trade out of number eight but maybe they should take Cutler.  I havent exactly seen a Buffalo quarterback light up the league since Jim Kelly.

There are some good picks that are available outside the top 10 as well.  However the good news for NFL fans. This draft class appears that it will make an impact on tomorrows NFL for the better.  The question is who will be this years Andre Ware and who will be this years Tom Brady.
