5.Pujols elbow still intact. the media sold it like his ligament is a rubberband pressed against a sharp knife, guess the knife isnt that sharp. Sadly i bought into the hype.
4.Willie Randolph still manager of the mets. after last year's disaster i thought he would be gone at the first sign of lackluster play, appartently not.
3. Chase Utley still getting balls to hit with a 200/200 player behind him, ryan howard. on track for .205 and 221ks
2. The Red's kids
1. Reds having Bruce, Votto, Volquez, Griffey, Dunn, Phillips, Arroyo, Harang, Coco Cordero, and somehow still losing
5. he's still the man
4. he should be gone already, now where's Bobby Valentine?
3. M.V.P. to soon to say it?
2. Time to find a kid to replace Griffy
1. Watched Edinson yesterday, and even in a losing effort, he looked brilliant
Pujols is still the most consistent hitter in baseball..Randolph will be gone by the all-star break...If I were to build a team, Chase Utley would be my first or second pick behind hanley Ramirez...I love Bruce. Go Kid Go!
the thing about colorado, they werent that good before the 20 game streak at the end of last season. and they obviously had big injuries and the lack of pitching - corpas killed my fantasy team - is keeping them down
It looked bleak for the Rockies for sure......but have you been watching the last week? The Rockies are getting people off injured reserve and they are starting to win again.
That coupled with Arizona coming back to the pack and we aren't even at the all star break yet. Don't count out the Rockies yet. They have won eight of the last eleven games they have played.

If you think its severely strange that the Reds are losing with those you mentioned, try naming the Mets team and see how bizarre it is that they are losing:
I would also put the success of the Marlins right up there as well. Honestly, did anyone think they would be in contention this late in the year? Also, as Randolph was fired yesterday as manager of the Mets, canyondave was right. But, it was certainly inevitable...he's been managing with this cloud over him ("Will I be fired today, or won't I?") that was sorely affecting the team. However, Minaya has got to take much of the blame for this team. Building a roster of aging, has-been superstars by selling off their farm system just to achieve win-now success. In other words, auctioning off your wife and kids for immediate gratification. And look what happens. There's a lesson here, I'm sure.

eh Mets suck no big surprise there :)
i figured the Reds would be up there with the Marlins, Rays, etc. which leads to my next point....
Marlins didnt surprise me this year, neither did tampa, or the brewers last year. there's always some young team that plays over their head for about 70 games, then as summer goes on they fade.
i cant consider a team "playoff bound" unless ive seen them do it the previous year or previous 2 years.
