March 28, 2008, The Beginning...Go ahead and RSS this right now! Start here to feel me, or scroll down
and continue where we left off last. - As this evolves, hopefully the
title of my blog will be understood. Basically, I think I'm getting old
and have a lot to say! The ironies of the world amaze me. I am very
perceptive to how chains of events link together and create something
either very good or very bad. What I can't understand is, WHY CAN'T
EVERYBODY SEE IT MY WAY!?!?!? It's so obvious. I just left my job after
almost three years, after staying way too long. I will not try to dwell
on that, but what amazed me is how differently my boss saw things than
everyone else. Borderline ridiculous. No. Over the border, definitely.
Her fantasy was my reality. AND IT SUCKED! I think I will just tell you
guys stories and things that go through my head, and let you have fun
with it. Life supplies all the material that anyone really needs. I
will be talking a lot about fantasy sports, which is my passion. I want
to build a sports website that will be different from the others. So,
you need to start feeling me, and let me be your Pied Piper!
I
am probably one of the coolest bruthas I know. Yes, I will occasionally
dip into the cool way of spelling THANGS. My motto is
keepingitreal.com. But, I must admit. As cool as I am, my addiction to
fantasy basketball and football makes me a fantasy nerd. There are
millions of us. There's this side that you all don't know about. We
want to win so badly, but in reality, we can't really control it. It
not about the money. Our fantasy lives are based on mostly young
millionaires who live the high life. They are people just like us. They
have off days just like us. With the advent of the internet, all of us
fantasy heads have been drawn to overanalyzing and over scrutinizing.
We have too much info at our disposal. I have been playing with a large
core of my buddies since about 1994. I used to do Excel spreadsheets to
do the stats before the net caught up. It was so fun back then. I
remember thinking that I had a little advantage because I was the first
of the crew to get online. So now we are near the end of the hoops
season, and we are sweating. I won last year, but am in 7th place, out
of 11...been high as third...Oh yeah, I do the "..." thing a lot.
I have been in an old school phase with music for a few months now. All
this bling, bling, bling, and you are paying for it #### is wacked. Now
the tracks are tight...I like a good beat...and there's no innuendo
anymore....Hi, what's your name...wanna bone?.....where's the romance, man?
In the truck I have been wearing out Eric B. and Rakim, The Chronic,
Outkast, Penthouse Players (I bet y'all ain't hip). So I am playing
online and start messing with Playlist.com....searching and
adding....so I think I will share my playlist with you guys...you can
veg out while you are cleaning or doing your online thing, and maybe
every once in while, you'll go hey....and you youngsters, this was
music...and...you guys are getting cheated at concerts. Concerts back
in the day....man...I was at the Forum in Los Angeles when they taped
the Parliament Live album....anyway...feel my current musical
throwbacks at http://www.playlist.com/user/22968772. Warning: Explicit
Lyrics. Anyway, I had five guys going tonight...Granger, Murphy,
Gooden, Bosh, and Gomes....Gooden sucked for the second game in a row,
but I can't complain too much, as he has been waiver wire gold. I stole
Murphy a long time ago because I knew J.O. was seriously hurt...but...I
am the one stupid guy in everybody's league that loves Agent Zero. If
he would have came back right after the all-star break, with the moves
I made, and with some luck, I think I could have made a run near the
top...oh well...so, I am trying to make a run at third...there is a 6
player logjam between 49 and 54 for 3rd and 7th with first having 66
and second having 64..... I need threes, steal, FG%, and boards to
possible #### 6 points in two and half weeks....I got 52....Kobe went
for 53 and they lost...I hate those games when Lamar disappears...I
used have Kobe every year until about three years ago when guys started
making runs for him...now I try to win different every year...
March 29, 2008 -
Anxiously awaiting the UCLA game....they HAVE to win it all this
year....3rd time's a charm, right? Kansas and Memphis looked good, but
I hope my boys don't show up like they are happy to be there like the
last two times. Shaq's a hater....Of course, I was a big Shaq guy...and
big Shaq AND Kobe guy...then all the #### went down, and he went to
Miami...the only thing that I didn't agree with was Kobe puttin' Shaq
on blast about the cheating thing...otherwise, I understood where Kobe
was coming from. Shaq NEVER worked hard during the offseason, and
routinely used the first 20-25 games to get it going. Kobe didn't
respect Shaq's work ethic, and got tired of biting his tougue...Shaq
was done right after he went to Miami...you Laker fans know how pissed
we would have been if we would have shipped Kobe instead of Shaq, and
would have had to watch him on the bench for most of the last three
years in those ridiculous suits. Now Shaq trashes the Heat. Not feeling
him anymore...he's like a boxer that doesn't know when to quit...Got
four guys going tonight....Melo, Camby, M. Ellis, and Gooden....man, if
Ellis shot threes, he would be a top 20 fantasy player....in a lot of
ways, his game was a lot more polished than Kobe's or T-Mac's when they
first got into the league. Of course I am first in blocks and second in
boards, and have a chance to #### that last point...I heard a rumor
that if the Nuggets don't make the playoffs, George Karl is going to be
fired...not fair, especially this year in the ultra-competitive West.
For
the record, I dwell in the Raider Nation, I bleed Dodger Blue,
obviously I am a Laker man, and the Angels have always been my 1B
baseball team. Growing up in LA spoils you. The Clippers? You have to
have love for them if you are from LA...they have always been my Lakers
baby brother. Al Thornton will be a monster, but I hate to say that you
probably won't see it if EB stays with the Clips....I ain't sold on
Shaun Livingston...
Hey...I got six hits on my
page...Thanks!...if you want to email, send it yuh8tn2000@yahoo.com. I
have never used that account, so I will check the spam folder and begin
to manage it..
I gotta admit, I like women's basketball. I'm old
school, so I remember games that ended 16-6, and 2-0 halftime
leads...seriously. To see the game evolve is amazing. Since women
cannot rely on the sheer raw atheleticism like guys, they rely more on
fundamentals, generally speaking. From a purists' standpoint, it's good
basketball to watch. I still would rather watch Josh Smith ####
somebody's lay up out of the air any day, though...
Why isn't Gooden in the starting lineup? Man....I don't even know if
he's hurt...I do remember something about his neck...barely played last night, but I thought it was because of
the blowout, and the bench made a furious comeback. That's what I get
for having to depend on the Goodens and Ricky Davises of the world to
get into the money....
March 30, 2008 - Man, UCLA
looked good yesterday. Or maybe, for once, they didn't play down to
their competition. It's hard to pick against Kansas, but Davidson is on
a roll...I think Curry can go for 25 and they still will
lose....Memphis and Texas is a good one...I'm pickin' the Tigers...I
took all the #1 seeds to go to the final four, so I am halfway
home...Man, right after I throw props to Al Thornton, he goes off for
39! Don't be the one that picks up Brand or J. O'Neal. They won't play
enough minutes to help you, and if you have percentages in your league,
you don't need any 2 for 10 nights from a rusty guy. Plus Brand isn't a
great free throw shooter. Rockets getting thumped by almost 20 right
now...somehow, the Spurs always let people back in at home, and Pop
gets that stupid look on his face...never wanted to give props to
Hansborough, but after yesterday, I'm about sold. He probably is the
fastest big man in college. Before, I was calling him a bigger version
of Mark Madsen...great college player who's game didn't translate to
the NBA...we will see...I also am trying to decide who is the better
player between he and Kevin Love...the fact that Love is a freshman
gives him the edge, I think. And that's not my Bruin bias talking... I
have always had love and respect for the Tar Heels, "The Program". Any
school that produces MJ you have to have a bit of love for, unless you
are Duke.more to follow, email: yh8tn2000@yahoo.com more to follow. Unedited version at fantasyisreality.weebly.com
OK folks...no, that's not me. It's my granddad, RIP. I look nothing like him, except for the nose, which EVERY member of my family has the same one....
