Well, Hoff has complicated things a bit with the fact that he'll be gone till Monday, but that does give us a good long time to formulate arguments. The problem is that I have to leave the country on the 26th and will be out of contact, so we're going to have to squeeze this thing in there. Here's the schedule I'm thinking of.
Friday - 20th: AK47spiderman vs. dehbashi. Arguments should be submitted by 9:00AM EST.
Saturday - 21st: Voting for first game ends at 9:00AM EST. xphoenix87 vs. genez13. Arguments should be submitted by 9:00AM EST.
Sunday- 22rd: Voting for second game ends at 9:00AM EST. GR8ONE54 vs. ricko. Arguments should be submitted by 9:00AM EST.
Monday- 23nd: Voting for third game ends at 9:00AM EST. JoshQPublic vs. Hoffman. Arguments should be submitted by 9:00AM EST.
Tuesday - 24th: Voting for final first round game ends at 9:00AM. The 4 winners will move on and should have their arguments in by 2:00PM (this shouldn't be hard since you've already made one argument for your team, and you know in advance the two teams that you might face if you advance).
Wednesday 25th - Voting will end 24 hours after the second round arguments are posted. Arguments for the final game will be expected sometime that night (time TBD).
For results from the final round, I likely won't be around when they play out, so I'll be handing the responsibilities of officially announcing the winner to someone else. Since I won't be there to put a time limit on that, the voting for the finals can go longer than 24 hours, but that can be decided later.
Everyone okay with that format? I'm sorry it's a bit rushed, but I'm doing my best with the circumstances.
Anyway, here are the matchups, done completely by randomization.

Hey X, I know that you ignored the invitation to actually attend the awards ceremony...but I'm standing here with you Golden Swirrly #### Award. Do you want it or should I throw it away? If you want it then you have to come over to my blog and pick it up.
i also like the idea of writing our articles on our own blogs to keep all the smack talk for particular games organized and the judges have an easy way to view it. then on your main blog you coul post hyperlinks to the different blogs
Also, there are several issues with posting the arguments on our own blogs.
First and foremost there are only 5 places on the main board for NBA postings. There are 8 teams. It would be pretty difficult to guarantee that X remains on the main board when we're all posting new material at the same time.
There's also the matter of convenience. I want voters to read my argument and my opponets at the same time. It doesn't make much sense to have them go back and forth.
Finally, I know Lil' Spidey loves technology but is it far fetched to believe that one would have an advantage due to the appearance of their argument. I think formatting for everyone's argument should be decided by X and should be uniform.
Spidey - I'm planning on doing round 1 in 4 separate posts, 1 for each "series". That way, the debate/smack talk doesn't get all mixed up. I think that it works better this way as we're able to keep the two arguments in the same place for easy reading, and it makes sure that both arguments are posted at the same time.
Hoff - I really wish we could have a day in between, but like I said in the post, I'm going on a 3 week trip to Europe starting the 26th, so that doesn't leave a whole lot of time If you can't start until the 23rd. If anyone has schedule ideas, let me know, but I can't see a better way to do it in such a limited time.
Spidey - if you want to do all that stuff, just type the thing up under "write a post", and then convert it to html (there's a handy little button that does that) and send it to me.
Honestly, I don't know how much time I'm going to have to devote to Monday's argument. I have to help prepare for the wedding all week. I'm leaving today.
I'm the best man too so it's going to be a busy week for me.
Just now saw this. Full speed ahead with the schedule. No one said this would be easy . . .
Prepare to eat my dust, losers.
BTW, I will posting my arguments, (plural, 'cause I plan on being around to the end) on my own blog. I think that's the best way. I'm sure all who want to read/vote know who we are and can find our posts. Now if you'll excuse me, Coach Auerbach and I have to settle our guys down. They're all chomping at the bit and arguing over who's going to get first dibs on torching Reggie Miller (I chuckle every time I think of it). Oh, and we have to decide which victory cigars we are going to order.
xphoenix87 went modern with 3 current players, none of which are on the greatest 50 list.
dehbashi selected 2 current players, however, Duncan will be on the list eventually, JKidd... probably not.
JoshQPublic stayed with the tried and true... all on the 50 greatest list, but only McHale has logged minutes since 1984.
genez13 drafted 2 current players with Shaq on the 50 list and AI only a good argument away.
ricko went with 2 current players both playing their way to legend status, but currently 4 non-50 greatest makes this the "Legendary" team right now.
GR8ONE54 has a good mixture of old and new, but also 3 non-50 listers. However, Wade (his only current player) will be there one day and Miller and Wilkins are in the discussion.
Hoffman took Thompson and Mullin with his last two picks as role players and both are non-50 guys.
AK47spiderman drafted the ageless wonder in Mutumbo as his only current and non-50 player, but otherwise not a bad with the last pick of the draft.
So we have 11 current players and 14 non-50 greatest all time players.
Gotta question... since only 11 current players were selected and Shaq, Kobe and Duncan are the only bonafide top-50 players right now, does that mean we are waiting on the youth to mature OR that the players just aren't as good today as they use to be????
Neither, Mac. I think most of us drafted with the idea of putting together a good TEAM in mind, not necessarily the best player at that spot in the draft. Therefore, some of the better players got passed over.
Another juicy stat... only 13 #1 picks since 1966 were selected. That's 13 out of 42. Not a good track record.
And only 22 Lottery picks (top 14) since 1980. That's 22 out of 392. WOW!!!!
And I love this one... only 1 out of 140 picks selected 6-10 made our draft..... drum roll please... Chris Mullin!
pump-I did take Nash, and actually thought very hard about taking Walter Davis, but opted for English instead. Are you suggesting Connie Hawkins? Alvan Adams?
Hey Hoff.... remind me not to give you my home address.... LOL
I loved David Thompson's game just like I loved Dr. J and MJ... I favor the high-flyers for some reason. But I was just making the observation that he and Mullin didn't make the Greatest 50 list. However, if we wanted to really get technical and talk about Greatest Seasons....
Gotta go get some chow, guys... I'll be back shortly.
Ricko...Hawk and Davis would have been great for the run game. Nance would have been offense and defense. KJ's game (one of the best). Heck, Chambers would have been worth a look for team chemistry. I know..don't laugh..I'm a homer
