Liking the D'backs ML to complete the sweep against the Padres tonight behind Webb....the Mets ML are worth a look as an alternate against the Braves...if only because Mike Hampton starts for the Braves..
Although a bit risky....I like the Mets to pick it up where they left off aganst the Reds behind Santana.... SD/STL under is worth a look as an alternate...
Liking the Giants ml tonight in NY...Although Mike Pelfry has improved the last few starts..he won't get the same kind of run support with Lincecum on the hill against him...Oak RL is worth a look as an alternate at home vs Seattle
A rare chance to get behind the Marlins ML as they send arguably their best starter Scott Olsen out against the Rockies...NYM RL is a decent alternate at Philly tonight.
Liking the Braves today behind John Smoltz at an inconsistent Mets squad...a decent alternate is Cincinnati RL against a suddenly old looking Barry Zito...
Liking the Mets RL to complete the mini-sweep tonight against the Nationals...the Giants ML are worth a rare flier with their best pitcher going against a suddenly struggling Padres squad...
Coming right back with the Mariners ML again to-night, this time behind the as yest unbeaten Carlos Silva...the Mets RL are a decent alternate vs Florida..
Well...the perfect season is still in tact....<eyeroll>....surely I can't go 0-162 can I?
Yesterday's Recap...
Am i allowed to plead Manager Insanity on my Tigers pick?....Why Leyland sent Verlander out for the seventh after he was clearly losing in the sixth (not exactly a surprise on opening day), will go down as one of life's great mysteries....yes the Tigers pen is weaker than last year but they only gave up 1 run of their own doing over 5 innings, hardly anything to complain about given Detroit's supposedly vaunted offence...the Tigers appeared to be very over anxious at the plate, not surprising on opening day fro a team with such high expectations...and still they were able to put 3 runs on the board...a positive sign despite the loss...
Today's Pick:
You have to love the Mets to make it two straight over the Marlins tonight with Pedro on the mound...the Marlins had nothing for Santana last night and don't figure to fare much better vs Pedro...who has looked sharp this spring...
If the price on the Mets is too rich for you....the Padres are a solid alternate play at home vs Texas...
Hi Folks...great to see baseball back once again....kind of a lame opener tonight with the Braves opening up Washington's new park...I understand MLB wanting to showcase the new park but still...oh well...
You simply have to like the Braves here...I know the Nats will be jacked for their opener but at best they are the NL's answer to the Texas Rangers...good to great offence if everthing is going right but absolutly no pitching whatsover...
if it is possible to be a sleeper when you have won the division for twelve of the last fourteen years then the Braves are it...that's what you get for playing in a division with a NY team and a Philly Team...both of which have far more vocal media centers then Atlanta...The Braves have addressed their issues with pitching from last year and as long as they stay healthy should be a force...
As noted above...the Nats could have a decent offence if eveything clicks...but they could also blow up big time very easily if there imports continue to have off-field issues...and in any event their roatation is mediocre to horrible, primarily due to inexperience...
Take the Braves.....RL for those who want to minimalize risk...but ML is a safer play tonight because the Nats will be extra pumped up....
