I usually avoid picking the Blue Jays for personal bias reasons...but I cannot turn down the ML today at Philly behind Shaun Marcum....Kansas City RL is a good alternate behind Greinke...
Ok, this slump is getting ridiculous even by my standards....surely we can snap it tonight with the LA Angles RL behind Santana at the Royals who send out an awful to date Brent Tomko....the Cubbies Ml are a good alternate at Cincy, albeit at a lousy price...
Ok, so tell me the Tigers are going to get swept at home opening week of the season by the ROYALS of all teams?....didn't think so either....this team has to wake up sometine and today is the day...The Philles will also bring Washington back to earth as well for those who have had enough of Detroit for now....
Ok, this is getting ridiculous....If i was the paranoid type I would starting to think that someone was really out to get me....three perfectly solid picks all blow up in my face....yeesh...oh well...
As for today's action...I look for the Tigers to rebound in a big way vs the Royals with Atlanta rolling over Pittsburgh as the best alternate...
First off I want to acknowledge the comment made to yesterdays blog re Nats bullpen which was 100% correct...the Nats bullpen is solid if not spectacular....my comment re the Nats having no pitching was directed at the rotation rather than the bullpen...
Indeed...the Nats bullpen kept them in it untill the ninth when they were let down by the catcher....but then were bailed out by Zimmerman in the bottomof the ninth....they got the bare minimum from Perez.... who was badly outpitched by Hudson, who after giving up a 2-out 2 strike broken bat single to give the Nats the lead in the 1st did not allow a baserunner the rest of the way....if the Nats starters can't get at least through six innings the bullpen will be burnt out by Memorial Day...
Today's Pick:
I love the Tigers at home over the Royals today...Meche was a pleasant surprise last year after signing what most thought was an absurd free agent contract....but unless he throws a shut out the Royals don't have enough offence to hang with the Tigers....
A possible alternate pick might be the Angels over Minnesota tonight...but with the Angels being on the road the Tigers are the safer pick...
