Last week all the races in the Trifecta ended with late
drama. The Nationwide event saw a late
caution forcing a decision to pit or not to pit for tires, determine the
outcome. The Kentucky Derby ended on a
very sad note with the filly Eight Belles finishing second and having to be
euthenized right after the event. And
then there was an almost overlooked incident at the end of the Sprint cup event
where the 88 and 18 got together. I
wonder if anyone saw that, or a replay of it.
Anyway, after all that drama Dwindy1 cruised in what ended up being a
snoozer of a Trifecta. He led wire to
wire and was never really threatened for the lead. Congratulations again Dwindy1, Denny Hamlin
could learn a thing or two about how to close out a dominating performance from
you.
This week another serving of NASCAR sandwich, but instead of
1 horse power the meat in between these slices will be from Turkey
consisting of closer to 900 hp
The first race on the menu will be the the Nationwide event
on the newly paved Darlington Speedway.
The old lady got a new black dress and this is going to mean fast racing
in the Cup support series, starting at 7:00pm ET
Friday. This is when your picks are due.
The second piece of bread is the Sprint Cup race from the
track too tough to tame. It goes on Saturday night at 7:00 ET
And finally the meat sees the Formula 1 cars battle for
supremacy in Istanbul going off at 8:00 am ET Sunday. Also with no news of Fred sliding into one of
the red cars this weekend yours truly is the first one out of the Alonso moves
Ferrari pool.
This weekend also signals the official coming of spring here
as it will be the first “outside” race of the year. (I like to enjoy the races on my little T.V.
set up on the back porch with my favorite beverage (which is currently my home brewed beer)). Hope you all enjoy,
Cheers.
yee-mum- i was torn between that and the mothersday trifecta, but i like the aliteration with the t's.
on that note an early happy mothers day to everyone who's a mom or has a mom.
moseby your comments are welcome anytime, and you can play too if you like. i think the pens will steamroll all the way through the finals. its easier to pick when there are only 4 teams left eh.
lori- you gotta take tony. if he and your trifecta pick a battling for the win who do you cheer for? especially if he was still on the board when you picked. what if that position came down to the trifecta win. even though i'm sure you'll still say you want to see the 20 win, i'm sure you'd be a little torn up inside.
jjd- kudos too me??? you had some great comments yourself, i think you actually out-stat-ed lisa
y'all are crazy. in f1 webber, trulli and rosberg are left and have looked great all year.
i was thinking about doing the pole, but thought it left alot of drivers out. it seems to me to be a smaller group who could win the pole, but almost anyone can back into a race victory.

I guess I can't read. jon already picked Harvick (or hacked his way into the Fox Sports Blogging Supercomputer and altered his picks and back-dated the time stamp on his post).
I had a hankerin' to pick this guy anyway, and then a wave of rationality swept over me. That rare wave is long gone, so the winner of the race with la mujer en BLEEP:
no tez, beaver or forensic this week i guess. thnx to all for your participation. penalties look like this.
Dave_in_Indy--------5
noahspop2001--------15(something tells me you dont care you just like to put in picks every once in a while).
also gerrel took greg biffle in the nw race, but it says he isn't in it. i will give her burney lumar in the 37 sponsered by the greg biffle foundation plus a 5 point penalty

at 9 the sportcentre girl comes on and says "tune into sportcentre in an hour". i thought to myself "the race is going to be over in 15 min, what are they going to talk about after a nationwide race till then?" thats when it all broke loose.

Forensic is mad. I took away his dart boards for picking drivers.
Hey what happened to Boyer in qualifying for the Cup race? He was in the top 20 then afterwards he dropped to 40th. Figures I pick him and he slows down. This will be a tough job getting to the front this time.
after the cup race the lead pack has produced a clear cut leader

we have just finished our mothers day feast here and i have taken some time to update our final scores. i watched some of the f1 race this morning and although i know the #2 mclaren was struggling i didn't think it was possible to catch our leader. well i was wrong. your winner this week(after a bit of whining last week,(we won't let you off the hook that easy, especially after you won))is...

Sorry about picking someone who wasnt in the NW race. I was in a hurry doing my picks, as we were off to Indy for the 500 quals on Friday AM, and just got back tonight.
Congrats to Jon464 for bing the Trifecta winner this week!
What a heartbreaker william ... I'll go back to kicking myselft now.
If you didn't read my latest blog post, it was about (jokingly) interpreting drivers' dreams, and I unknowingly wrote about Smoke dreaming about the number 3 repeatedly. Should've known something awful would happen on lap 3!!!!
Congratulatio ns to Dave_in_Indy winning the Great Canadian Trifecta on June 10 2007. His blog "A Partially Able Mind" is a collage of sports info and a must for anyone interested in the Indianapolis 500 or the IRL. Congratulatio ns to JayJayDean, winner of the 2007 MonsterMile Trifecta on June 05, 2007. He has a great blog analyzing NASCAR's points system called JJD's NASCAR and other stuff blog. Congrats need to go out to 14Falcons, the 2007 winner of the Memorial Day weekend Trifecta. Every race fan needs to check out his blog, Kierkegaard's Stages. As for me, i am just another racing fan, from Canada, with opinions like every one else. other than racing i love Dave Matthews Band, playing guitar and all sports in general. favorite drivers include Jeff Gordon, Jeff Burton, and Dale Jarret. favorite sports teams are Toronto Raptors, Montreal Canadiens, Notre-dame football, Chicago Bears, Syracuse basketball.
