First looking back at the Something Different Trifecta we
find Forensic2 whipped the rest of us by scoring a minuscule 4. Picking the winners of the Little 500 and the
Phoenix cup race, his only blemish
(and a very slight one at that) was second in the Jack Ingram Cup race. The bike race added some fun, but was not
researched well enough by the team here at Trifecta head quarters and thus was
the cause of more than a bit of
confusion. First of all a few people picked female teams only, competing in the
women’s little 500, which was not what I originally intended, but I have included their scores from that
women’s event. Also the list I linked to
was not very up to date and 3 teams that were chosen from it did not even
compete in the race, so my apologies go out to Hanahan, Dwindy1 and YeeMum who
I had to score a 34 for that event. Here
are the results from last weekend
Forensic2-----------4 Photogr-------------16 JayJayDean--------18 williamwilman----19 Gerrel----------------24(I accepted your original pick which
finished 12th instead of 16th in the men’s event) HotfootLori---------24(ironically you and Gerrel tied, and
both were the ones’ to pick from the female group) Dave_in_Indy-------47 Hanahan-------------49 jon_464---------------60 Dwindy1--------------65 YeeMum--------------87(not exactly setting any records, but
I love the pick of sentimental favourites like landon. It’ll make for a cool read if he posts after
he upset wins one of these things, eh.)
Now on to this weeks action, or shall I say non-action. This week neither Sprint Cup nor Formula 1 is
running, so we are going to have to go to far reaching places to fill in the
Trifecta.
The first race on the card is the IRL race from Twin Ring
Motegi in Japan. It goes at 12:00
AM ET Saturday morning (that’s Friday night for all you crazy
partiers). This is when your picks are due.
The second event is the 3 race championship series stop in
Hamilton NZ for the V8 Supercars. You
are picking a driver to come away with the most points for the weekend, not
just 1 race. Our sponsor Tezgm99 tells
me this is how it works downunder and you can check out his blog for more
information about the race. The first
race takes off early Saturday morning at…um…er pretty early in the morning ET and there will
be 2 more races early Sunday morning. I’m
not sure of the exact time difference, but I’m hoping Tez can help us out. Also check out this site if you’re unfamiliar
with drivers in that series.
The final race is the Nationwide road course race from Mexico
City, Mexico. All drivers are eligible to be picked for
this one which goes off at 1:30 pm ET
Sunday.
Same rules apply for double picks. I thought about trying to include one these
final CART races, but I can’t get any information from their website so they
lose out. Good luck to everyone
Congrats to Forensic!!! I am sorry about not changing my pick Wil, but I am usually AWOL on the weekends and didn't see the message... glad it worked out anyway.
IndyCar ~ Scott Dixon
V8 ~ Kelly
NW ~ P. Carpentier

34th in a bike race. Thanks, Dave. I can only hope that the thrilling, unreported Little Indy becomes a yearly entry in the trifecta. How about next year we add in the kids in my neighborhood racing big wheels? I'll let you know who's entered, and who won. (8*)
Indycar - I'll try my luck with Ryan Briscoe again, lol
V8 - Craig Lowndes
NW - Marcos Ambrose (ta for leaving him for me everyone)
will put up the times for the V8 races when I find them by the way....it'll be Pacific times since that's the timezone I'm most familiar with over there, lol
William...I applaud your creativity! My fav drivers are all taken and I have yet to learn the ins and outs from Tez on V8 so I will sit back and watch the madness unfold...just sayin hi!
well first lets sort out all the penalty so we all know going in
photogr-----10(kelly and busch)
jayjaydean---5(wheldon)
Dave_in_Indy-5(pruett)
YeeMum------15(obviously)
Beavernut----10+29(for no pick in the supercars)
...and here are my picks. you may think it hard to pick last but actually its not that bad. i just look at the starting grid and take who ever is left over.
irl--hideki mutoh(when in rome...um..er..i mean japan)
v8 supercars-steven richards (q'ed it up first, eh)
nationwide--colin braun?(shouldn't i know this guy?)

Whincup's weekend is done from what the commentators said. Had a big crash in qualifying and since the V8's don't have a backup car, they said he won't be racing....will find out tomorrow I suppose but he's definitely not in race 1.
Will; I asked the same question about Braun....basically he's a younger Scott Pruett, drives pretty much anything, lol
CARNAGE ON LAP 1! Ingall made it three-wide into a chicane and ended up blocking the track from about 18th back....gotta love street tracks, lol
righto, race 1 saw Forensic take a close faught win over Lori and Will. Hanahan got a top 5 finish while Jon, Gerrel and YeeMum got solid top 10 efforts.
As for the rest....well, we're hoping races 2 and 3 reverse things as that's the only way we're getting a decent result out of Hamilton, lol
William, I read on FoxTrax for the Mexico race that David Green qualified the 5 car instead of Adrian Fernandez. I had chose Fernandez because he was entered as the driver of the 5 car. Whoever drives the 5 car in the NWS race will be the driver I choose.
tez thnx for the update. boy it must be quite something to not only race the race, but keep your ride intact for more events over the weekend. i think i really like the format. its adds whole new dimensions to stratagy.
no wonder i couldn't find the taped delayed irl race on t.v. this morning it has been delayed until tonight.
jon_464-- np. you've got the "5" car
Dave_in_Indy-lol, you made me choke on my coffee
Dave; you should take my second pick - James Courtney
what happened with Whincup was that Todd Kelly ran wide on the exit of a right-hander and Jamie was barrelling along behind him on his hot lap. When Todd came back onto the track, he clipped the left rear of Jamie's car and sent him nose first into the outside wall before spearing back across the track to demolish the backend as well.
I am shaking my head about that IRL win for Danica. I actually was going to pick Castroneves...but he was already picked by the time I got to this blog. I did however feel very confident that Danica would have a solid top 10 in the race...and she actually won. Boy was I cheering those last 3 laps for her NOT to run out of fuel!
well, well....took her long enough to win too, lol
anyway, here are the V8 results;
Forensic - 1 (clean sweep...lucky ####, lol)
Will - 2
Lori - 4
Jon - 6
YeeMum - 6 (excluding penalties)
Hanahan - 8 (DNF in race 3 but two top 5's meant he got a good end result)
Tez - 9 (knew I should have taken Courtney *sigh*)
Dwindy - 15 (Steve got knocked around a bit but soldiered on)
Gerrel - 21 (Davison never really recovered from his practice crash I'm afraid despite finishing top 10 in race 1)
JJD - 27 (Greg is our Jamie McMurray...can't catch a good break anywhere)
Dave - 29 (bad luck there...I couldn't believe that shunt actually)
and these two I don't know about....photo's picks are gone while beaver didn't pick a V8 driver *scratches head*
i think i understand why photo bowed out. he had 2 double picks and his irl pick didn't start the race. but as we stand now he still is 5th from the bottom. thnx for the great updates again tez. i wish we could get some kind of coverage of these supercars over here.
here are your standings after the first 2 events.
Forensic2------3(unbelievably hot in the last 5 races)
HotfootLori----7(the only one here hold forensic in check this week)
Hanahan--------12(still has an outside chance)
williamwilman--13(the first of the also rans)
Tezgm99--------18(a pair of 9's, its the start o####ood poker hand. hey that gives me an idea for a future trifecta....)
Dwindy1--------21
Gerrel---------22(what ever your score you can bask in the glory of being the one to pick danica in her inaugural win. it goes down in history... finally)
jon_464--------24(can't buy a break lately)
photogr--------28(the start of the bloggers who had at least one pick not in a race)
Dave_in_Indy---34(can't wait to get your take on her first win)
YeeMum---------34(not only does marco come last, but adds a penalty to your score as well.. ouch)
BeaverNut------35
JayJayDean-----36(wow, very uncharacteristic, i thought you were starting your come back after last weeks results(loved your piece on the top 35 rule))

i can not tell a lie. it was way to nice a day to watch the race. the t.v. was on but i only caught a few laps of it. and i don't know who's hotter, forensic or kyle. your standings for the end of the weekend
Forensic2---------4(2 weeks in a row, unheard of, unimaginable)
HotfootLori-------12(would have easily won many other weeks)
Hanahan-----------15
Tezgm99-----------20(i thought it was all ambrose's)
Dwindy1-----------25
photogr-----------34(also had kyle to win)
jon_464-----------38
Dave_in_Indy------42
JayJayDean--------42
BeaverNut---------45
williamwilman-----46
Gerrel------------57(lowest finish with no penalty. and to pile on, you picked the first race winner)
YeeMum------------74(wow, your a lock when we do the reverse order tri)
Congrats Forensic. Guess I really ####. in my picks this week, lol. OK so I did pick Danica...but as for the NW race, bad pick there. Oh well...there's always next week.
I should have come back with different picks, but the boss kept me too busy to do the research.
(and I thought my picks might possibly be good enough to offset the pnealties.)
oil well
It's not like it costs anything to play.................
Thank you all, and sorry for the late respons, I have had alot to handdle over the weekend with news about my brother. I guess I should thank Photogr for calling me a Jimmie Johnson closet fan cause I picked him once on here a few weeks ago to make me pick the Forensic way.
My frame by frame on how to pick the winners now that I know its the lowest score wins will be out this week. A big hand for Tez keeping us updated and most of all William for coming up with a fun way for us to have fun interacting with one another.
Cheersssssss
Hanahan - Thanks for the wishes on bro. I will admitt its best to get your picks in first,,,,, But I was 5th in picking. lol. You know I look the IRL list over and I siad D. Patrick and jot it down, then I change it seeing no one had pick Helio. Shoulda Coulda woulda been 3 for a score. I take my 2 wins and be happy with that. Its someone else turn. Goodluck to all on the next trifecta. cheers
