As many of you know this weekend my Dad and I are going to Montreal to watch the NASCAR Busch series make its racing debut in Canada at the world famous Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The track which is named after Canada’s most storied race car driver is visited by Formula 1 each year takes up an entire Island in the St. Lawrence River. It has been documented that Busch series teams have been advised to be prepared to run in the rain which could make this inaugural event even a bit more interesting. The race is scheduled to go off at 3:30 EST on Saturday afternoon and is the first event on this weeks Trifecta card. The Second event is the Formula 1 race from Budapest Hungary and is set to go off at 8:00am EST Sunday morning. The last race on the card has the Nextel Cup cars in Pocono Pennsylvania set to go at 1:00pm EST. The June race there saw a rain shortened day with Jeff Gordon taking the checkers. I believe 2 of the last 3 years the races there have been swept by a single car and we will see if it happens again this year. Hope so. The same rules apply for double picking a driver and this week picking the winner of the cup race will give you a bonus of -5. Picks are due before the start of the Busch race.
im going first here today and i just wanted to let you all know not to expect updates unless some one wants to take that task upon them selves. the job is open.
Busch: Marco Ambros. lol. just kidding tez, make it Patrick Carpienter
Forumula 1: Kimi Räikkönen (cool i got those little accent marks)
Pocono : Jeff Gordon
Busch - Marcos Ambrose....I've been hanging out all day for this, Will :P
F1 - Fred Alonso
Cup - Kyle Busch
hope you have fun at Montreal, Will. Here's a little tidbit for you; the Canadian GP of '94 was the race that got me into F1 in the first place....go figure, lol
Ralf Schumacher for Formula 1. He is a hotbody pick. Just love those foreign names.
CUP cars I have to go with David Ragan . Besides the #### guy says Johnson is hot but I think ragan is a real cutie. He looks hot to me. Just gives me shivers.
Busch.- Raining and in Canada ey? Definately different. I'll have to go with the Camping World Chevrolet then, because camping and rain are always together.
----------Ron Fellows.
Formula One. Who gives a flip? I'll flip on it and take -----Felippe Massa.
Cup. Friday is my b-day and I'll be drinking plenty of beer at the lake this weekend, so I'll go with Mr. Budweiser again.---- Dale Jr.

interesting, only Iowa and Dave have gone for a non-Chevy driver in the Cup race. At this stage in qualifying....well it's raining (isn't that a surprise for 2007, who'd have believed that? *rolls eyes*)
It's a brother Grim fron....uh, Busch front row with the #2 on provisional pole. Newman and Kahne share the 2nd row with Denny and Jimmie 5th and 6th. rounding out the top 8 so far (and scoring points in my qualy title) is Juan and Jeff Gordon.
The rain came just as Jr had gone out....hopefully it's just a small delay but that will possibly hurt his chances for pole since there'll be no rubber on the track.
as for the other 2 series....well it's still early stages and neither have had qualifying but we'll give a brief update anyway.
Montreal - local boy, Patrick Carpentier, was fastest in Happy Hour and he was followed by Valiante, Ambrose, Papis, Fellows and Said. Pruett was 9th, Coleman 15th, Pilgrim 17th, while Edwards, Harvick and Robby Gordon were in Pocono so no times for them.
Budapest - Alonso was fastest in session 2, with Kovalainen (I'm getting better at spelling his name....had an 'a' instead of an 'e' only this time, lol), Hamilton, Rosberg, Heidfeld and Raikkonen. Massa is 7th, Fisichella 8th, Kubica 10th, Schumacher 11th and Webber is 13th
Apologies to anyone's pick I missed in those 2 series.
yeah, don't tell me you never saw the animated movie 'Ice Age'? The sabre-tooth tiger in that is called Deigo so my avatar is named after him....I like Dennis Leary, he's really funny :P
tez thnx your doing a great job. i have just finished getting ready for the big trip and now am just going to bed. the bus leaves in 6 and 1/2 hrs.
hot body - looking good and great to have you on board.
everyone good luck with your picks

the one I'm taking from Whistler to Seattle later this year (yeah, scary thought; me over there again, lol) is about 5 hours I've been told.
righto, our Cup picks (in order of when they got picked) will start as follows;
Jeff Gordon - 11th
Kyle Busch - 3rd
Tony Stewart - 24th
David Ragan - 36th
Dale Earnhardt Jr - 1st
Denny Hamlin - 6th
Carl Edwards - 29th
Kevin Harvick - 23rd
Juan Montoya - 9th
Martin Truex Jr - 13th
wow, 10 this week....cool!
and, just for photo, Jimmie Johnson will line up in 7th
Jr's car was involved in a "minor collision with a track car"....I read that as the TC was holding Jr up and he practiced his bump and run technique :P
as for you picking Jimmie....doesn't surprise me, but I'm not sure how long you can stay in my place before the Lowes team find out, lol
oh and I'll get in early for the (very optional) '4th pick' and say that Steve Wallace will be the first to add his name to the infamous "Wall of Champions" during the Busch race.
Did any of you see F1 qualifying this morning? Interesting problem between Alonso and Hamilton. It left a "bad taste" in Hamilton's mouth. Also, SPEED TV is showing commercials about CA Speedway Girls. I thought you men would like that. Those girls look as good as the pics you're posting. It gives you something to look forward to doesn't it.
Yep, great stuff. F1 qualifying is even better than the race, and is the best qualification method in auto racing (at least in terms of fan excitement).
I think the risk of Alonso and Hamilton taking one another out very early tomorrow just ratcheted up more than a little bit. I'm sure the teams will be talking to the drivers to try to amp their competitiveness with each other down a bit, ... but good luck having that stick once the lights go out on Sunday.
You're right, Dave. Qualifying is great. I love the racing also. Hamilton was not a happy camper, but I don't really blame him. I thought he handled himself well, though. I can hardly wait for the race to see what happens. Hope you enjoy it.
well....if there wasn't a problem between Lewis and Fred before there will be now :P
The problem Lewis will have, of course, is that Hungary has zero grip on the inside row....I will be very surprised if Lewis is second coming out of turn 1 on the first lap.
From the small amount of the race I've actually seen, the passing seems to be good. Tez, I can feel your smile here in Southeast Tennessee! My guy, Andy Pilgrim, isn't too shabby either.
Currently flipping back and forth between an X-Games related dirt & asphalt moto type race and the Busch race. Watch out for Robby. He's looking very strong Way to go - so far - Jeff Ward! A guy in his mid-40's leading a motorcycle event, ... incredible.
Stupid driving by both Robby Gordon and Marcus Ambrose - and Gordon is in a heap o' trouble.
He may be sitting for more than a few races. Sheez.
Seems to be a boneheaded decision by NASCAR to put him in 13th, and an even more boneheaded decision to stay in 2nd and punt Ambrose. Ruined what otherwise was a very good road race.

Will they park Robby for a Cup race when he acted the fool in a Busch race? I suppose they could use the Karvick precedent, from when he slammed a guy in a Truck race and they sat him for a Cup race.
Well Harvick pushed Pruett out so that pissed me off and then Gordon with his #### staying up front to get back at Ambrose was the icing on the cake. One of the reasons to kick the Busch wackers out of Busch and let the regulars battle it out..
Gordon knew he was to fall back so why be a jerk and alter a race?? Typical of Gordon. He needs to grow up or get out of NASCAR permanently..He really messed up a good race.
Is Gordon going to get a penalty?? I doubt it..
If I was Ambrose, I would have went up and kicked Gordons butt all over the pits. Don't know if that would be P.C. but it sure would feel good for me.
Too bad Tez:: He ran stunning race and the race was stolen from him by a jerk.
What is with the ESPN coverage? They cut away before the talk with the other drivers..
Agree that taking Ambrose out demonstrated an inability to control his emotions. Had he stayed in second, in defiance of NASCAR, and cleanly raced Ambrose for the win, that would have been fine in my book - as he'd been royally #### by NASCAR.
And Ambrose isn't without blame here, he clearly deliberately wrecked Gordon as the yellow came on - or was far less competent of a driver than he had demonstrated throughout the race to that point.
By so obviously wrecking Ambrose, Gordon took any chance of folks siding with him out of the realm of possibility. A great talent with an inability to think beyond the moment.
Photog - I wouldn't be surprised to see Gordon receive a multi-race suspension on the Cup side. (and never acknowledge their role in this #### up finish). My guess is they won't act in time to take Gordon out of the race at Pocono, though.

Well? The last restart and Andy Pilgrim was supposed to be in second. What really happened here? I'll tell you that Harvick should not be the winner of the race. The entire thing was messed up at the end. The end of this race was very ugly and I feel that NASCAR was to blame. They should have red flagged the race and sorted things out. Oh well, another race on another day I guess.
ideally they should have red flagged things when the #47 blew up and dropped the oil. But hey, at least Will got to see a wild finish for the first race in Canada!
and Fred has been demoted to 6th in Hungary....Lewis will now win his third race of the year and extend his points lead
"McLaren has also been informed that it will not be eligible to score constructors' championship points in Sunday's race with either car."
hmm...think Ferrari asked for that? Nah, there's no favoritism in F1 at all.....YEAH RIGHT! *rolls eyes*
