I do not agree with the comments Imus made, or the fact that he was fired from his job. I believe people in the public eye should be more mindful of what they say. Though his statement was degrading towards women in general, I do not believe they are any worse than those made towards homosexuals and other minorities every day. What about Isiah Washington? He kept his job after publicly calling out a cast mate as a homosexual. There should be no double standard when it comes to hateful remarks, and that goes for any gender, race or sexuality. It just seems to me that any time an event ocurrs that can be in any way taken as racist towards the black community, you have people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson all over the place. But where are they when any other time? Racism and prejudice are all over out country, and it's a shame that in this day and time, people still react the way they do to differences. But don't let one person off the hook and fire another. ALL people in the media need to be responsible for their words and actions, and ALL should be held responsible.
I'm a HUGE KY wildcat fan who just moved from eastern KY to TN. I've grew up with the cats, and watching them makes me feel like I'm home. I love pretty much all sports, especially college basketball.
