Italy has had one subpar performance in this world cup, against the US. They demolished both Ghana and Czechs. They managed to hold the Aussies at bay with 10 men, and earn a legit penalty (by official FIFA guidelines). And oh, by the way, destroyed Ukraine 3-0. How's that for not impressive? I have yet to see a team have ALL great matches for the duration of a world cup.
A pinch of luck is also required to go all the way, just ask Brazil.
