The Detroit Pistons do NOT give 100% every game... why?
May 21, 2008 | 8:39PM | report this
I am a lifelong Pistons fan and I almost can't take it anymore. WHY WHY WHY do the Pistons not give a full effort... ESPECIALLY in BIG playoff series? I would say since 2005 when they lost to the Spurs in 7, something has changed. Every year since 2004 they have had "arguably" the best team in the NBA. This year they have the same great core they have had for 5 years, plus a great, developed bench. And yet I KNOW they will not play as hard as they should and Boston will and eventually win the series. Of course they will tease me with flashes of brilliance for maybe a quarter... if I'm lucky a half. Yet will still come up short. And also with me knowing this... I still get dissapointed EVERY year. Why do you not give it your all Detroit? Cocky? Unmotivated? No legit reason for ANY of those?  RASHEED... GET ON THE BLOCK AND STAY THERE! NO ONE CAN STOP YOU IN THE POST! Tayshaun... establish yourself on the offensive end, you can play inside and out... JUST DO IT! Officials, quit calling fouls on Lindsey Hunter for amazing defense. Flip Saunders... I just hate you! HAHAHA Alright I'm done blog away!?

Maybe it's not the effort. Maybe they are just not that good anymore.

You mentioned the core being together 5 years. The Pistons are getting old.

And their championship core isn't here anymore. McDyess is no Wallace. Dumars never found a suitable replacement for Big Ben to defend the low post and watch Sheed's back.

In essence, this is a completely different team than the one that killed a strife ridden, injury riddled Lakers team and (in which I argue they played even better) a team that took the Spurs to 7 games.

This team relies too much on Sheed, which is not all that good of a thing.

Wow. Billups isn't 100%, that doesn't help. You are playing the best team in the NBA in the Conference Finals, not the Finals Finals, so that sucks too.

As a Celts fan, I'm not high on Doc Rivers either. Anyone could go to the Finals with the talent on their team. I feel your pain. But I've been waiting for 21 years for this while watching you guys have fun in the playoffs. You have my sympathy, but not too much. Hope you play a better game tonight. Good Luck!

Don't worry Pistons fan. They will turn it up a notch.

If you watched both game ones of both conference finals series, you would have noticed that both teams in both conferences were feeling each other out.

Boston didn't come with their A-game and neither did the Pistons. Same thing with the Lakers and Spurs.

Game Two in both series will be a much more accurate barometer of how the teams match up.

Detroit still has to transition Billups back into the flow of things as far as intensity and energy is concerned. Billups still needs to find his stroke offensively.

I actually believe that Tayshaun leading the Pistons in scoring in Game One is a blessing in disguise for Detroit.

When you look at both teams, they each have a Big Three. This makes Tayshaun all the more important as far as being the difference maker in the series.

Don't even trip, brother. Pistons will take it in seven.

See? What did I tell you. Detroit came out and controlled the enire game tonight.

Boston had no answer for the Pistons' weapons. And the Celtics still couldn't beat Detroit with Allen scoring 20+.

Better offense will always beat better defense. That's why the team with more weapons usually always wins.

That's why Showtime defeated the Celtics. They had more scorers.

That's why Showtime defeated the Bad Boys. They had more scorers. Not until Magic and Byron pulled hammies in '89 did the Pistons finally beat the Lakers.

The Celtics are in deep doo-doo, especially now that Chauncey has broken a sweat.

mcdyess is better than wallace ever was..however, big ben got a chip so i won't degrade his lack of an offensive game....pistons are old? you must be under 30 to say something like that lol..

don't use refs there would be less chance of them fixing these games.Give the pistons lead pipes and let's speed this up

Rasheed is as good as Garnett he is just lazy. McDyess is better than Perkins. Rip better that Ray Allen. Chauncey better than Rondo. Paul Pierce has the edge on Tayshaun but not by a landslide. And our bench dominates Bostons... don't tell me Detroit is a worse team. Detroit just doesn't always play to their potential...

Rasheed as good as Garnett, not on his best day He's not half the defender KG is and his best offense comes from behind the arc. KG has owned Sheed regular season and post season it isn't even close
