I sat at the computer screen and stared at the question over and over again, trying to figure out how in the world I was going to answer this question without bashing my head up against the computer monitor or throwing my keyboard out of my third floor apartment window.
"Which athlete has the hottest spouse?"
What? I thought we were supposed to write about sports. I'm a chick, and I know about sports. But who am I to determine who has the hottest spouse? After all, I'm a girl. A lady. A female. Generally, women don't discuss hot women or pretty women, reason being it just continually lowers our own self esteem and self-image. In response, we eat and make ourselves bigger and, well, less hot.
However, since I mostly have guy friends, and a husband who is more than willing to discuss who he thinks is "hot" (after me, of course), I came up with my answer.
Now, granted, I do realize this is somewhat of an obvious choice. Oh well. There is something to be said for me being female and the lack of creativity in this department. But, hey, it's a contest and I have to give it all I have, right?
Now, for those of you who don't know who this is (wait, let me check that, I realize who my audience is), this is the wife of Tiger Woods, Elin Nordegren. Yes, I know, the typical chesty blue-eyed blonde. How original of me. But the one thing this woman has going for her is that she has legs up to her throat. That alone is enough reason for me to say she's "hot", for lack of better terminology. I'm sure if I had legs up to my throat and dyed my hair that color blonde, I could land me an athlete too. Alas, I'm only 5'1 and a brunette, so that doesn't look like it's happening any time soon. Another reason why she's hot? Because she's not on the television all the time like some other spouses (Eva Longoria, I'm looking at you) all the time. It's a bit easier to stomach a stunning beauty when she's not being shoved into your face every 5 minutes of the day.
The second question posed "Why I should win this contest?" is easier for me to answer. I have three very qualified reasons:
1. I'm a male trapped in a female's body. I have the body o####ymnast and the attitude of a hockey player. I will hit anything that moves. Hard.
2. I have challenged my brother-in-law twice to a head-to-head battle of Madden 2006. He owns the game, I don't. I've beaten him both times. He hasn't talked to me in two months because of it.
3. I've just written about who I think has the hottest spouse. That should say enough about me right there.
True, I could've picked a guy, but who? Nomar? Ugh. His OCD with his wristbands is a huge turnoff. Jennie Finch's husband? Eh, not so much. Face it, all the hotties are women. I've resigned myself to that fact. So now I'll just go eat a bag of chips and wallow in my non-hotness.
Hey Whathappnd, I can't disagree with your choice, seeing as how it was mine too, but I have to give you credit - I don't think I could have brought myself to argue for a guy like you were able to argue for a chick - nice job.
As far as the second part goes, both my daughters are small too, but I wouldn't want to tangle with either of them unless I was wearing a suit of armor....
I'll be honest, WH. I clicked on this post, looked at the picture, immediately clicked on Add a comment, and then went back because I figured I should read the words around the picture instead just posting something referring to the hotness that is Tiger Woods' wife.
Nice post
Envious about your Madden 06 ablities, as I'm regularly thumped at Madden 04 by my 10 year old nephew. I blame it on the constant hockey mentality, WHAT THE HELL IS NICKEL DEFENSE ANYHOW??? =)
Whathappened- I just wanted to say I've been following your comments around the various blogs and I wanted to tip my hat to your honesty and gutsy role as editor. You've been dead on with many of your comments and people really appreciate the critiques. It's just nice to see someone critically reading pieces and giving back some worthy feedback. I'll be checking out your stuff more often because it's nice to read other female writers in this male dominated arena. Good luck!
I see the pic but what's this writing stuff everybody keeps talking about? Everytime I look at the post I see the hot chick...lemme try again...nope...just the hot chick...I'll bet for all her good looks she probably has bad breath or when she breathes through her nose it whistles. Cause that's the way it really works...
belle: don't get me wrong, i love reading other people's work. I love to compare styles against mine to see where I may need to improve, or if I need to change anything at all. And in the realm of competition, and having not been here all that long, I find it only fair to give an honest critique. A mentor I had a long time ago would always give me an honest opinion, and in the end, it made me a better writer. So I just try to pass that off whenever I can. I'm glad you find that refreshing (I don't believe in sucking up. It was just never my thing.)
My g/f's and I do talk about that kind of stuff, but there always seems to be a hint of jealousy whenever someone brings it up. (and we are all straight too!)
And much props to you on your new job, #### Eye, and for being one of few females in the male dominated arena as well. It says a lot about your talent.
ed: you liked the hot chick, huh? hell, i figured my only shot at not getting eliminated first round was if i found a really hot pic the boys can all drool over. seems to be working ;)
whathappnd, ditto what Belle mentioned about the criticisms. They have been very helpful and accurate. I hope you raised my grade from a B to at least a B+ after I took your criticism to heart. LOL.
Come check out my new post and let me know if its "A" worthy.
Love your pick by the way too. I've been checking out this contest and there are some strong contenders, but for me its between your pick and SoCal's.
A woman with a love and passion for all things hockey, baseball and writing. Ergo, here I am. I will primarily be focusing on hockey and baseball, but if another sport so warrants my attention, I will put my thoughts and opinions here, in this space. Well, it would actually be in the space to the left, but you know what I mean.
Allow me to apologize up front if some of my blogs are long...I'm working on that. For the record, should you see any slanted articles towards the following teams: New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Orange County of Southern California of the United States of America, or the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, that would be cause those are the teams I'm truly a fan of. But I will try to be as fair and unbiased as possible.Than ks in advance for reading!
