Hold the presses, Kobe wants to stay?!?
May 31, 2007 | 4:18PM | report this

This is comical.  It almost seems as though it is scripted straight out of Hollywood.  I want out, the Buss is drunk, West says not in a million years, a pep-talk from the Zen Master, and now I want to stay?!?  The Buss says we will commit to immediate improvement.  Didn't he promise that before? Why would Buss' seemingly empty promises change his mind now? Well, either Kobe is extremely naive or he now knows something that would satisfy his desire to win.  Rumor mill has it that Jermaine O'Neal is on his way to LA and this is what the Zen Master said to him.  Because we all know it wasn't some drunken promise made by the Buss - which is what led to this drama in the first place.  Let's think about this for a minute though.  Just bringing in O'Neal does solve the front office mess.  What to do about "the little bus"? and the CupCake? And can we see a picture of this 23 year old?  What does Jenny think about al this? What do you guys think about all this?

Its kinda like dancing with the stars . . . not that I watch that show . . .

Dr Buss goes to rehab with Lidsay Lohan, later caught making out . . .
May 30, 2007 | 3:43PM | report this

So Kobe, now you want out? I am surprised it took this long for you to realize this.  Yes the front office is a joke, no arguement there.  CupCake clearly road what Mr West had built then proceded to #### it up real good.  And Dr. Buss getting arrested for DUI with his 23 year old lady "friend" and joining the ranks of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan? It is a sign of the times for the Lakers.  This is a sad day for Laker fans.  I am real interested in hearing what Phil has to say about all this. Or even Magic for that matter.  So what is the future of our beloved team? Well, here are some senarios:

     1) Kobe stays, Kupchak goes, West steps in (for an obscene amount of money) to rectify the current mess.  Jim Buss thows a fit because daddy took the T-Bird away and gave it to West, they trim the fat and make a move to acquire a KG or J. O'Neal and get back in the running . . .

     2) Kobe goes (to the Bulls - and watch the MJ / Kobe comparrisons blow up), Kupchak stays, Jerry goes to rehab with Lidsay, PJ opts out because Jim Buss wants to re-build around Farmar and Bynum . . .

     3)  Jerry Buss and Lindsay become an item and are all over the tabloids, Kobe gets traded to Miami for D Wade and makes front page on FoxSports.com again giving Shaq a big hug and the title, "I missed you big papa", Jenny Buss officiates a UFC match between brother Jim "the little bus" Buss and Mitch "CupCake" Kupchak, Phil writes a book about it and makes $10M, Jerry West laughs at the offer for GM on the Letterman show then goes fishing with Barkley.

    4) Sound Off on what senario you think may happen . . .

Thoughts on Bloody sock or not, Schilling was magnificent

A response to Bloody sock or not, Schilling was magnificent

What the Hell is all the commotion over the guys sock how many years later?  And funny how it blows up on the heals of the Sox sweeping the Yankees . . . coincidence?  I don't know about you but I don't believe in coincidence.  So some Yankee fan - like the coworker who I made a bet with over 3 weeks ago who still hasn't  honored her bet and worn the Sox T-shirt or jersey - decides to say (in that school yard whine), "yeah, well ummm Schilling painted his sock and is no hero".  Quit your whining.  Next thing you know the your moma slurs will be slung.  Did the guy have a great game bloody or painted? Yes. Will it change the outcome of the game? No. So why are we living in the past? Only because it's a slow news day. After the NFL draft, and more NBA play-off drama unfolds this issue will go away.  He will keep his $1M and the mockers will go home.

And BTW co-worker . . . pony up and wear the Sox gear. The longer you wait the more it will hurt. Just get it over with.

Maybe will paint your socks too :)

[update as of 5-10-07] Thus far, Ms. AE has worn the gear once (with 4 days to go to make good on the bet), and has decided that since there was no specific dates that the payment had to be completed by is stringing this along indefinately.  Here is the most recent exchange of IMs.

ME: you wearing Red and White?
AE: black and green
ME: we are going to have to start accessing penalities for delays
AE: we never set a date so where are the delays coming from?
ME: true there weren't specifics about the dates . . . however there has to be a statute of limitations
AE: hmmmm, nope
ME: alright it is gonna get ugly then

I'm thinking maybe decorate the cube with Sox gear . . . balloons, etc . . . any other ideas are welcome.

Well thes are good picks however what about the game winners UCLA over Gonzaga in the final seconds?  What about Texas game winner versus WV?  These were amazing shots that caused erruptions of cheers across the nation's sports bars.   Not to mention George Mason over UConn or Villanova over Boston. . . these were some exciting games that truely contained at least one (each) of the tourny'e top ten . . . It was a great run for the Gators and hats of to the young guys dominating the field of play.  Truely played like champions.  Congrats.

Will the Great One Stay Home? His reputation vs Olympic Reputation
Feb 10, 2006 | 2:24PM | report this

Well Wayne you in a bit of a mess. Who would have thought the 'Great One' would be associated with a mess like this. Not that he is involved of course. But here is the kicker, should Mr. Gretzky stay home from Torino? Will this investigation tarnish his reputation and respect? Will it float a dark cloud over the Canadian Hockey Team or Olympic Hockey? What do you do? Even if he is innocent of any involvement, if he goes to Torino then the drama will most definately ensue to some degree. If he stays home, will that be looked at as a sign of guilt? Or will he be credited for being gracious as to not bring this drama to the Olympics? On the eve of the opening ceremonies we are already trying to either create or avoid drama. Well, Wayne you are still the great one when it comes to Hockey and if you were making a little extra on the side well who doesn't do that? What's wrong with making a little wager now and then anyways?

Seven Super Bowl XL Lunches
Feb 06, 2006 | 3:52PM | report this

This was the email I had to send out to seven of my associates that I bet lunch on the Seahawks winning.  I thought you might enjoy the rantings of my bitterness.

"Well you all must feel real good

after the Steelers won.  But before we get on to the business of settling these bets I would like to sound of a bit.  First of all, this is quite possibly the single worst officiated game I have ever seen – Super Bowl or otherwise.  The first offense was the holding call on Gray, nullifying Jackson’s first down completion.  The second, was the offensive pass interference call against Jackson on Hope nullifying the touchdown. I don’t care if you’re a Steelers or fan or not, there is no question that was a terrible call (no pun intended).  The score at this point should have been 7 – 0 Seahawks.  The third call that made the conspiracy obvious was the Rothlisberger TD run.  The rule says the ball . . . yes, THE BALL must break the plane of the goal, not the player, his arm, or his helmet THE EFFIN BALL! It was clear that was not the case from the replay.  The score at this point 7 – 3 Steelers which should have been 10 – 0 Seahawks.  Ok, so Willie broke one loose, cant complain much about that except for bad defense on Seattle’s part.  And the worst and deal sealer I believe was the the holding call against Locklear which killed the Stevens completion of first and goal on the 2 yard line.  This would have set up yet another Seahawk TD but nope, lost to the officialsyet again on this play.  Score 14 – 10 Steelers, the real score should have been 17 – 14 Seahawks.  Had the remainder of the game played out the same that would have been, and should have been the final score.

The Steelers are not the better team, look at the stats, Seattle not Pittsburg dominated the clock, they had more first downs, more yardage, and quite simply outplayed the Steelers.  There is no question the Seahawks lost – however they didn’t lose to a superior team in the Steelers.  There were only 3 guys that were responsible for their loss, the officials.

I believe there was a conspiracy from the beginning, all the media, Vegas, and the hype surrounded the Steelers.  All the first half commercials of players with

the Lombardi trophy were Steelers, as a matter of fact the only one that had a Seahawk in it was  Hasselbeckfor a 3 second clip after the half and the other 4 or 6 were Steelers.  And the whole Bus’ hometown homecoming yada yada yada.  And why does Vegas jump out before the conference championship even is finished favors the Steelers by 3.5? Who is paying for this?  So that being said, I will gracefully by you effin lunches but know this the real score of the Super Bowl XL is 17 to 14 Seattle Seahwks.  The NFC champs are clearly superior.  But nobody can beat the refs.

I will begin the “free” lunch schedule starting Thursday and can combine if someone chooses the same location.  Remember when selecting the location that it must be within reason.  I will humble myself to listening to your smack talk for the duration of the “free” lunch but once it is paid up the boasting will then be terminated" Smiley

Artest Joins T.O. In New League
Jan 26, 2006 | 11:56AM | report this

Latest Breaking News:  Ron Artest and Terrel Owens have announced they will be teaming up in a new league . . .  on the PBA tour.  It seems as though they can not find happiness in the NFL or NBA so they have mutually decided to try the PBA.  Since they will not have to rely on anyone else but themselves, they figure it will be best this way.  Artest has already signed a 5 year deal with Brunswick and T.O. is currently in negotiations with Bowlers Paradise for a 1 year deal.  They seem to be apprehensive to sign him for anything long term for fear of hold-outs and renegotiations for more money half way through.

"I'm excited about the new direction I am going, especially since it is all about me," says Artest. "I have been bowling since I was a kid, and can throw down with the best the PBA has to offer."

T.O. told reporters, "This is the best thing that ever happened to me.  I have even installed a 3 lane bowling alley in my house so I can practice between situps."

No immediate response was returned from either Brunswick or Bowlers Paradise.

Why we can't get a good Super Bowl blog . . . .
Jan 25, 2006 | 6:15PM | report this

I have been trolling the blogs for a good thorough take on the Super Bowl and have come up empty.  Why is this? Well, many are simply blogging their loyal support to their team (good for you as you should), others are front running and wearing swag no one has seen them wear all season, and still others are spoutings of armchair quarterbacks under the influence of too many of Milwaukee's best.

I enjoy a good read just like the next guy, but what makes it good? Do your homework, get together some stats, research past the last 2 games.  Give us some meat instead of jello.

I would like to see something obscure and abstract to think about not the obvious, give some statistical breakdowns on the special teams, o-line, the secondary.  Even random seemingly unrelated trivia that somehow ties in.

And reference your sources instead of spewing data that has no support.  And if you are posting up about Anna Benson at a benefit xmas party for kids wearing inapropriate attire,
post a freakin' photo.  It looks as though the old addage is true . . . if you want something done right, do it yourself.

Stay tuned for my abstract blog about Super Bowl XL filled with obscure factoids and how it will play out . . .

Weigh In on Your SuperBowl Predictions Here . . .
Jan 22, 2006 | 10:15PM | report this

Well, the stage has been set in the Motor City . . .  The defensive, gritty, get 'er done Steelers versus the offensive, MVP owning, too many options Seahawks.  Personally, I am greatful the Steelers beat up on the Broncos because I had a lunch bet (which I won), nothing like a free lunch.  My hope is since I am a Giants fan and the NFC is THE conference to be in, I default to the Seahawks (and since they hammered on the Panthers who ended our season).  I hope you all enjoyed the conference games as much as I did.  Enough babble on to the predictions:

Seahawks:  28
Steelers:  17

All I have to Say Is WOW! Vince Young you are my hero . . .
Jan 04, 2006 | 9:54PM | report this

What an awesome game. By far if not the best game I've ever seen at least the best National Championship Game ever played.  Texas D focused on Reggie Bush for the most part shut him down unless of course he was recieving, USC moiving the ball effortlessly with White and Leinart.  But the MVP, Vince Young single-handedly picking apart the USC D, running for over 150 yards and 3 TDs, and passing for even more than that . . . . and scoring the game winning TD with 30 seconds left . . .  WOW is all that is left to be said . . .

mad props to Texas and Vince Young who, IMHO should of received the Heisman, got something better . . . the National Championship Title . . .

My only hope is that the Super Bowl can be as exciting as this game was . . .

good night and go Giants . . .

Your Rose Bowl Predictions . . .
Dec 12, 2005 | 11:26AM | report this
Ok, so Reggie wins the Heisman, and take out a mulit-million dollar insurance policy on himself,  Matt wins it last year and comes back to try for a 3rd - never been done before - national championship, and Vince, arguably the most talented of the 3 as he does both jobs well, will compete in this years most anticipated College Bowl Game.  Who will be going into the NFL draft? Who will be taking home the roses? Who will be National Champs?

USC - 28
Texas - 24
