Another Concussion for Trent Green, but Who was the Bad Guy?
Oct 08, 2007 | 3:44PM | report this

UNSPORTSMANLIKE? YOU DECIDE....

Sunday was full of many surprises, but after watching the highlights of games around the league today, none were more shocking and disappointing then the Trent Green/ Travis Johnson incident. . . .

The Dolphins had the ball at the Texans 25 on Sunday when Green gave the ball to Ted Ginn Jr. The rookie fumbled, then picked the ball up and reversed field as the defense chased him.

Texans defensive tackle Travis Johnson hit Green in the head with his knee before Ginn was tackled by Anthony Weaver. After the play ended, Johnson stood over Green and taunted him, drawing a 15-yard penalty.

Johnson apologized to Houston coach Gary Kubiak during the game for the penalty. But Johnson was furious later, accusing Green of blocking him at the knees on purpose.

"The bottom line is, it was a malicious hit. It was uncalled for," Johnson said. "He's like the scarecrow. He wants to get courage while I wasn't looking, and hit me in my knee instead of trying to hit me in my head. God don't like ugly, you know what I mean?

"My knee ain't never hurt like it hurt today," Johnson said. "If you want to hit me, hit me in my head, hit me in my chest, don't hit me in my knee. I'm trying to eat just like everybody else. So, to hit me like that, that showed me what type of man he was."

Did Trent Green throw a low blow, (which BTW was legal)? Or did Johnson, to put it mildly, overreact?

In my opinion either way Travis Johnson made a fool of himself. To stand over a mans unconscious body and taunt him is beyond de####able, and just about one of the most unsportsmanlike like things I have ever seen on the Gridiron!   It will be very interesting to see if the League will penalize Johnson for his behavior. What do you think should happen to Johnson, if anything? Should Johnson face punishment from the League? Or should he walk away with just a 15 yard penalty?

Let me just close with this. . . . When a Human Being can stand over another and show no compassion what-so-ever, it begs the question, "What's Next?"

Domes Need Not Apply. . .
Oct 04, 2007 | 5:43PM | report this

I have always been an admirer of how football players adapt and make adjustments in how they play due to the elements. Man vs. Man vs. Nature. Can any one of us deny that games such as The Ice Bowl and others like it add purity to the game itself? I know that my favorite images of this game are men down on the line where their breath gives away the intensity of their emotions. So with this being said, who had the bright idea to dome the game?

I have always groaned at the notion of having to watch a game played in any dome. I think  that it robs so much from the players and the fans. Around the league there is a total of nine domes, two of them being retractable. Now I am sure that they were thought of by someone who thought more tickets could be sold if fans were not huddled up together freezing to death. Wrong! Give me an emotionally charged, close game and I will be nice and toasty! Ever since I can remember I have always enjoyed football from Peewee to High School, College and Pro Football more when the temp dips below forty degrees. A hot cup of coffee, or cocoa along with the smell of hot roasted peanuts all add to the atmosphere of the game.

As bad as domes are there is a worse danger lurking inside. That's right Artificial Turf can be a players worst nightmare. This freak of nature has been blamed for numerous injuries that could have been avoidable. I know for myself that "Turf Toe" sounds ridiculous, but is actually a painful injury that can sideline a player for up to three weeks or longer.   So why is this acceptable for a fourth of the stadiums in the league?

Only nine out of thirty-two teams play inside. I would think that teams who play in a Stadium as opposed to a Dome would have the advantage. Now sure you can bring up the Colts, but Payton Manning is the answer to your question. Do me a favor and think about this. . . out of all the domed teams, only Minnesota and Detroit can really say their winter weather is bad. On the other hand, winter months for teams like Green Bay, Buffalo, New England, Denver and Chicago are brutal and all played outside.

In my opinion the only team that truly deserves a dome is the Cardinals, and man what a dome they have!  Not only do they have a retractable roof, but a retractable field allowing them to have real grass instead of turf. Dallas is also a team that allows the elements to affect their game, while letting their fans stay dry. Well at least until 2009 when their new stadium will open.

Look bottom line here is this. . . take a football, add some real men along with the unpredictability of the elements, mix them all together and you will achieve perfection!

When did Loyalty Become Passe?
Oct 03, 2007 | 12:17AM | report this
Growing up as a child of the '70's, and then spending my teenage years in the '80's, we had this thing called Loyalty around. If you did not have it back then you were looked at as odd. Every kid on the block had their favorite team they proudly represented every Sunday down on the corner where we had our weekly game. Football and loyalty went hand in hand. You could not have one without the other.

I started to notice during the '90's that so many people would proclaim that so and so was their team, and then after a bad season, they would have a blank look on their face when caught wearing another team's sweatshirt. Usually the new attire would be accompanied by the logo of whatever team was heading to the Super Bowl.

Now in this new millennium you are personally taken apart by people who view your loyalty as a joke. Not only is loyalty passe in just sports, but also in just about every other aspect we deal with in our lives. Just for example, the phrase, "Till death do you part" has became a threat instead of a vow.

Why and how did this happen? I really am curious to know the answer to those questions. You know as a Washington Redskin fan I have watched my team dominate the '80's, win a Super Bowl in the '90's, and then fall into all of the seasons that have come since. So for me when the Redskins finally make it back to the Super Bowl, the love and undying loyalty I have for them will make it that much sweeter.

So for all of you who have lost your sense of loyalty, or never really had it to begin with, I would suggest that you find a team and put all that you have into them. Come good or bad, hell or high water, be there proudly displaying their colors. So when someone goes to tear you down, you will finally know the sense of loyalty that comes from being a real fan!

I would like to close this with a quote on Loyalty from the Great Vince Lombardi. . .

"Individual Commitment to a Group Effort - That is What Makes a Team Work, a Civilazation Work."

Very superstitious....How far would you go?
Sep 17, 2007 | 11:50PM | report this

I have always been curious to see if other people are as crazy as I am when it comes to sports and superstition. I have convinced my children and my Husband that if you make a BOLD comment about how well your team is going to do, you have to knock on wood at least three times. If I think they are going to say something like "We our going to beat so and so!" I will try to stop them as quickly as possible! My oldest son says I drive him crazy! But last season he decided to take the opposite route and NOT do any of the things he has done over the years. Well, I have to tell you that the Redskins had a horrible season last year, and don't think for one second that conversation was not the hot topic at the dinner table in the off season! He has changed his tune this year, and so far the 'Skins are 2-0! Now I have to knock on wood...hold on! Okay I am done.

Throughout the years I have gone through periods of time when if per chance I had something as trivial as a lighter in my hand, and my team scored I would not let go of it through any of the games. There was one point in time where I had a LARGE collection of Redskins lighters that I kept above my Television. Well my Aunt, who is both a Redskins and Cowboys fan (I know) walked off with my collection. I noticed immediately after she had left that they were missing. She thought it was funny, and so did I until I got them back! I swear to you that this happened in the mid 90's. From that moment I got them back the Redskins started not only going down hill, but also losing the Cowboy/Redskins match ups! She has never let me live that down. Oh, and she can claim to be a 'Skins fan all she wants, but she has since decided that the 'Boys come first. Guess what? We already knew that!

Here are some of the more "Out there" things I have done in my life...

1-I have stood on one foot through a whole quarter. I was leaning up against the wall just in case you were wondering how I stayed up that long.

2- I have watched a game upside down. I had a massive headache afterwards!

3- I have a Redskins Blanket that has to be on top of my couch before every game, and if someone sits on it...they are ejected from the room!

4-Everyone has assigned jerseys, clothes, hats, etc. And if I see we are losing! We will swap until things change.

5-My Mom, who is as bad as I am, calls me before every game. We are not allowed to call each other until the game is over! We are not allowed to watch a game together. I think you can see where I get this from.

6- Just tonight I sang "Hail to the Redskins" every time the Offense was on the field. It is not the first time, and it will not be the last.

7- I have many more, but I will just  go a head and give the last one...Back in the 05' season I had to go out and pick my youngest son up in the middle of the game. It was around the third game of the season. Well , while I was out, I turned Sonny and Sam on the radio and the game turned around completely. For the rest of the regular season I would get in my Explorer about half time, listen to Sonny and Sam's radio show for the play by play, make my youngest go with me, and I would drive the exact same roads until the game was over. We made it to the playoffs that season! Too bad I stopped maybe we could have made it to the Super Bowl!

Now I know that probably all of you are thinking the same thing. This chic is off her rocker! Truthfully, I am about one of the most sane, and logical people you will ever meet! But something happens to me in early September. I change completely! Almost like a werewolf with the moon. I have actually had co workers say it is the craziest thing they have ever seen. They say I am business all week long, but when Friday rolls around my mind shifts gears! What can I say? I am a FANATIC! When you love something like that you lose all rational thought!

I do know that what I do is only to make me feel like I am an actual part of the team. It is just another way to show my passionate love for the Redskins. But sometimes I swear to you it really seems like it works! I know, I know...

Now I want to hear some of the craziest things you have done. What are your superstitions? Because I know I am not the only one out here that has done some crazy things! So let's hear it people...inquiring minds want to know!

DALLAS COWBOYS vs. NEW YORK GIANTS

or as I like to call it

"Showdown @ the Defenseless Corral "

I have reviewed this game from top to bottom, and front to back,I even double checked to make sure I wasn't watching an College Football game(80 points!) . When I finally realized it was indeed an NFL game, there was no getting around this one reoccurring fact . Lack of Defense! It appears only the Offense of both teams showed up to play Sunday night!

Now before you Cowboy and Giants fans go getting your knickers in a twist, let me reassure you that sitting in front of me is my "Handy Dandy Notebook" filled with play by plays, stats, penalties and injuries. I have reviewed it like the "Holy Grail" and there is just no getting around it. When it came to both Defenses... they were completely ineffective. Let's take a summarized look ...

                        *1st HALF/GIANTS* *

First let me start off by saying Congratulations to the Giants, who broke a team record on their initial drive of the game. After scoring a sixty yard Touchdown pass within the first 1:29 of the game, and after only three plays, the Giants broke a long standing team record. The last time the Giants were so quick out of the gate was back on September 2, 1978. Unfortunately, in the Giants excitement over breaking said record, they must have been forgotten how to kick the extra point!

Though the Giants were able to move the ball down the field during the first half sacks, penalties, incomplete passes, injuries, and an interception, kept their score at a measly six points. It was not until the clock had ticked down to 3:59 that the Giants were able to drive down into Dallas territory. After the two minute warning sounded, plus three Giant timeouts, Manning threw a short pass to Plexico Burress in the end zone! This time the extra point was good! And by a stroke of luck on the kickoff to Dallas, the ball came loose and the Giants recover it on the Dallas twenty six yard line. After one incomplete pass, NY’s Field Goal Unit came out and scored the G-Men another three points.

                   *1st HALF/ DALLAS*

The Cowboys did not come out and break any records that I know of on their first possession, but they were able to put three points up on the board in response to the Giants six. Still they too were plagued by incomplete passes ,penalties, a key injury and a fumble all within the first half of the game.

Overcoming those odds, Romo was able to connects with a short pass to Witten for an ten yard gain, which set Barber up for a rushing eighteen yard Touchdown! Lady Luck would also smile on the Cowboys, because when Manning threw a pass intended for Burress, the Cowboys Reeves was able to step in and intercept the ball! Returning it to the Giants twenty-three. On third and eleven , in shotgun formation, Romo throws a twelve yard pass to Witten. The Cowboys have scored their first touchdown of the half! Once more before the end of the half Tony Romo, meeting no opposition by the Giants Defense, was able to connect with Owens in the end zone.

How bad is your defense if a team can drop balls, throw incomplete passes, get penalties and still be able to get it into the end zone numorous times? Why don’t we ask the Giants? Actually I think that question can be asked to both defenses!

SCORE : 17-9

                          * 2nd HALF/DALLAS*

The second half seemed as if it was going to start out the same way for Dallas. Romo first pass was an incomplete pass. Still  he seemed to shake it off quickly by throwing two deep passes to Owens, for a combined total of forty yards, resulting in their first touchdown in the second half.

In what would be a total of seven possessions for the Cowboys, four of them would result in touchdowns. Sharing seemed to be the order of the evening for the Cowboys, as Owens scored two, while Romo and Hurd each scored one. But all the news was not welcoming during the second half. Romo was sacked once and threw an interception caught by NY’s Wilson on another.

Throughout the second half the Cowboys Offenses capitalized on the Giants wide open middle "Field of Dreams" (for the Cowboys) defense. Romo probably felt like he struck gold when it became apparent the Giants Defense was rolling out the red carpet strait down the middle into the end zone! Don't believe me? Look up the play by play and tell me how many TD's went strait down the middle!

                         * 2nd HALF/GIANTS*

I have to give it to the Giants, because they did try to mount a serious comeback. I believe that if Eli did not have to come out of the game due to his bruised, sprained or separated shoulder(depends on who you ask), it may have been a very likely possibility. Let’s look at how Eli managed to score twenty six points just in the second half. If you average out the time it took for those scores, then add the fact that there was plenty of time left with 3:03 still on the clock! All in all the Giants held up well in the second half. Simply, for the same reason the Cowboys did... No Defense!

Now you can yell and scream at me all you want, but the numbers do not lie. The Giants put up twenty six points in the second half. They overcame a fourteen point deficit. If there was a defense out there for the Cowboys, then they must have been out playing "hide and seek " with the Giants D!

In all seriousness the Giants had six possessions in the second half of the game, and only one without Eli. Actually only two were not scoring possessions. The first one was due to a sack on Manning, and the other because Backup Q.B. Lorenzen could not squeeze out one more yard on his Q.B. sneak. I am sure that this was a tough pill to #### for all Giants fans. To stay neck and neck with the Cowboys the whole second half begs a lot of questions to be answered about what was or still is really wrong with Eli.

After all the negative press Tiki has been giving them lately this win would have been extra sweet for Giants fans!

FINAL SCORE FOR THE GIANTS: Dallas 45, Giants 35

* MY THOUGHTS*

I have a bad habit of going over stats until my eyes cross to see who, what, when or where things went wrong. But the truth is plain to see here. There was really no reason for the stats, but I still went over them, and I have to tell both teams that I have never seen so many zeros on defensive stats! So in truth neither team can say that their Offense is that good! Nor can they say their Defense is good. I don’t think the can even say they have a defense.

Here are a few questions I have myself... One team has a new Head Coach, and the other team has a hated Head Coach. Did any of that factor in?

Why are both Romo and Manning still making rookie mistakes? It is time for Eli to stop trying to live up to Payton. Just like it is also time for Romo to forget about last seasons mishap!

In closing I would like for you to read a quote I ran across a from Giants LB Antonio Pierce. I wanted to share it with you because I think he sums it up best...

"We gave up too man BIG plays, and our tackling was horrible! Guys have to STEP UP! Our Offense did a GREAT job, but we couldn’t come up with that key third down stop."

Tis the week before regular season...
Sep 01, 2007 | 11:05AM | report this
I woke up this morning and smiled because I realized that we have finally entered what is the best week before the upcoming NFL season. It is the last week where all teams are equal. Where every single fan can still argue that their team is the best, and still has the chance to be the greatest team in the league!

Every year I await this week like a child awaiting the week before Christmas. All preseason games have ended and there ahead of you, within your grasp, is what you have longed for...sixteen weeks, the playoffs and finally the Super Bowl ! And though many analyst have already given their thoughts on just what your team will do this season, you lay your head down at night and dream of a pristine sixteen games and all that entitles.

I walked to my closet this morning and found there all the jerseys and clothes that will make up my wardrobe this season. I took in a deep breath because I know that this feeling comes only once a year. I reveled in it. A sea of Burgundy and Gold that reminds me of a passion and love that comes from deep within. I close my eyes and hear the band strike up. Every note crisp and sharp. I am humming along at first until finally bursting into song... " HAIL TO THE REDSKINS ! HAIL VICTORY !! BRAVES ON THE WARPATH!!!! FIGHT FOR OLE D.C. ! "

I hear the ever faithful announcer at FedEx Field. His voice echo's "TOUCHDOWN WASHINGTON TON TON!" I smell the crisp fall air intermingling with beer, burgers, dogs and electricity. It is a pure emotion I feel. An innocence that has long been forgotten finds its way back into my heart. I am a fan, short for fanatic. And no better definition could ever be found!

I know that you have your own team, and you too have your own rituals to go through that make you feel the exact way I do. I imagine for the true fans like myself, you find you are walking with a bounce in your step, a smile on your face. I bet that I will spot you as I am out and about this holiday weekend. A true kinship only we can know. Though we may be rivals, foes or friend, we can all understand each other. And this week affords us the ability to be the best. So enjoy this week, as it is ours. Dream in the colors of your team, and make them sweet dreams, because all too soon a kick off will set into motion a season that may or may not be the best your team has ever had!

Is the media to blame for all of Vicks problems?
Aug 22, 2007 | 2:16PM | report this
Today I perused Fox Sports as I usually do every afternoon, and to no great surprise, was bombarded by blogs, columns and chatter in regards to Vick and whether or not he is guilty or has been railroaded into a plea deal by the Feds. I have kept silent for the most part on how I feel about what Vick and his friends have pled guilty to doing. So today I am going to interject my thoughts this once, and be done with it. Advice that I will gladly give to "EVERYONE" so that we may get back to the sports that we love the most!

Living in the Hampton Roads area, which is where these crimes occurred, has given me the unique insight into many things the national media has not thought news worthy enough to report. In all of the articles printed on Vick, or reported on in the national news, the most overlooked fact is how these crimes came to surface in the first place. This is how it happened according to the pilotonline.com " Boddie gave the Surry County address as his home when he was arrested April 20 in Hampton on su####ion of marijuana possession with the intent to distribute. Police got a search warrant and went through the house Wednesday looking for drugs and drug paraphernalia." It was then during the initial search of this property Police found the dogs, a cache of suspected dog-fighting items, including "performance- enhancing pharmaceuticals," treadmills to condition the animals and papers that documented involvement in animal fighting. It was very obvious to those conducting the search that this was something not to be overlooked.

Now here is my question to everyone...If it had been you searching that property, would you, who has been sworn to uphold the law, reported what you had found? Regardless of "Who" the property belonged to. Or would you have looked the other way? Forget the fact that the property belong to Michael Vick, a NFL Darling. Forget that there is a thing such as black and white in this world. Would you have done your job in the manner that it requires? Strip it all away and look at the basic facts. A crime was committed period !

I have seen many arguments, both pro and con, and I can say that there is a lot of passion in these heated debates. The most common thread that I have found is that many people believe that the media is crucifying Vick. Let's take a look at that claim...

Twenty Four/ Seven you can find a channel reporting about Vick. Why is that? Well I have come up with a plausible answer... If you look at any given cable or satellite company how many channels are dedicated solely to sports? I can tell you, much to my and my husbands amazement, I just counted how many sports channels we have and do not have to pay extra for, and it is thirty three! Of course ESPN has the most. So just looking at ESPN and the NFL Network, I can tell you the reason Vick is constantly on is because they run their programs in loops. But that aside, for all of us who love our sports we have at least one TV in our house dedicated to blaring one sports channel constantly. In my opinion that would explain a lot. Also, I have to say that to be fair, the national news networks have given equal coverage to all of their headlines. I have not seen that Vick is getting more play than any other story.

My bottom line on Vick is this...This man had the NFL world at his feet. He worked hard to get there and I respect that greatly. Unfortunately he did not think more about the personal choices he made, and for that I do believe that this NFL great will have to stand up and take the punishment that is doled out to him. You cannot expect to live on top of the world, with all the love and adoration the media affords you, then turn around and expect them to look the other way at such a blatant crime. But I think the best way to sum up how I feel is to relay a statement his own Grandfather said today on my local news channel...

"For all the good that Vick did. It only took this one bad thing to overshadow it all. And I am tired of hearing about it!"

If you would like to view all the local articles in regards to this case I will provide a link to the pilotonline.

The innocence for the game has once again been found...
Aug 15, 2007 | 2:25PM | report this
I was sitting down earlier today talking to my Husband about how every other story in the NFL lately is about something negative. My thoughts seem to have been so clouded from reading headlines and blogs, including my own, about Vick, Pacman, Tank and so on...

As usual I was making my rounds on the NFL page here on Fox, when attached to another story, was a story about little Katy Marchman. Katy is a nine year old little girl who suffers from Angelman syndrome. Angelman effects the nervous system and cause seizures. Katy does not speak very well, but uses drawings to communicate. In this story written solely for her love of the Ravens, I found what my heart had been denied for a long time! I found the pure love and innocence that we all once felt, just simply the love of the game.

Katy has her favorite players, as we all do, but she lives for the Ravens. He joy is so enthusiastic, her whole family share it. The players she loves know her well. They state that she reminds them to be humble, and what a pure pleasure it is to have her at training camp. I know that there are many more fans out there for every team, and that if these players could have some one on one face time, then maybe more humble players will emerge. Please don't get me wrong... I know players have charities that they give to and work with, but in a time where the world moves so quickly it is harder for anyone to stay grounded.

I think that the child in me longs for the time when it was not important for me to read the newspapers, or listen to sports casters tell me everything that is wrong with my team or around the league. When getting ready for the following Sunday, meant casual smack talking with all the neighbor kids, and wearing your favorite jersey until it was faded or ripped. And when that Sunday finally got there, you threw off your blankets, quickly dressed in your teams colors and plopped down in front of the television with your Dad, ready for whatever the game had to throw your way!

So as I said in a comment I left on the article about Katy, I will say again... Thank you Katy! Thank you for reminding ALL of us that this is what the NFL is truly about! The love of a fan for their team! The Ravens are lucky to have such a special sweetheart as their # 1 fan! May they never forget that!!!!!

So Hail to my Redskins!

Football Poem for all Fans!
Aug 11, 2007 | 11:15PM | report this
The time has come once again
To darn ole jerseys, and call all friends. . .

A joyous feeling for all teams fans
jump in your cars; fill up those stands. . .

Tailgates drop for all who are hearty
bring the sausage, hamburger and shrimp to party. . .

Grab those coolers and pass those beers
it lightens the mood for boos and cheers. . .

Wear your costumes and paint your face
put all opposing fans in their place. . .

Brave the weather good or bad
Football is worth the fun to be had . . .

Now the fourth quarter comes to an end
joy or tears come, it all depends. . .

But one week later you will be found
here once again on sacred ground. . .

Sixteen weeks make up regular season
The love for your team is the only reason. . .

So send your wives off to the Mall
Now come on guys. . .
“Are you Ready for some Football?”

Trash talking, but when does it cross the line?
Aug 08, 2007 | 10:44PM | report this
In my previous post I was curious if others thought the Cowboy fans were the most rude in the NFL. So far the email, and two comments I have show that it is not so. Granted I am a Washington Redskins fan, but I truly thought I saw a pattern. I am glad to know that equal punishment is received around the league. LOL.

Now, I would like to talk about what is going over the line, with a comment, email etc. DMitch, a Cowboys fan, made an excellent point on my last post talking about respect for the enemy, just as a general would. I agree 100%. Don't get me wrong, I have gotten quite nasty myself. And I am not a hypocrite, so I wont cast that stone. But, for the most part, I only will when I am forced to. I will not run from any fight, but that is just my point...why must it be a fight?

I think one of the worst things that I dealt with, on a personal level, was at work. It was a few years back when the Redskins played the Ravens on a Monday night game. We lost. I got into work that morning, and I could feel the eyes o####irl I worked with snap right on me. I got up from my desk a few minutes later to go and get my morning Diet Coke, and as soon as I got close enough, she jumped up and grabbed my arm. She locked her arm around mine and started to squeeze down with her muscle, and she was not a small girl. The more I tried to pull my arm away, the more she squeezed. She, with a voice of hate, spewed on and on about how the Ravens beat us the night before. Now if she had just done that with the insults, then I would have had no problem. I finally yanked hard enough, and she lost grip of my arm. I turned my back, as she kept running her mouth. All day I stewed over what was done. Later that night I decided to confront her the next day. To my surprise she no longer worked there. I wish now that I had laid her out, but it worked out for the best.

I wear my Santana Moss jersey everywhere I go. I have a billion Redskins hats, and yes, I look good in them, LOL! But I cannot get into my car ever without someone having to comment. Which is fine with me, but my husband will roll his eyes, because he knows I give as good as I get. Actually, I give better. But when it comes down to person insults, that is where I draw the line. I will not even give someone the time of day.

Here on these message boards, people are out for the jugular. Trash talking should be fun. It should be something people look forward to. Tonight I read that a security guard for the Vikes died at their training facility. This man was a Ret. St. Paul Police Officer, and worked for the Vikes for 14 years. They are not releasing the details. Everyone seemed so respectful, until I came upon a comment that said, "Yeah I am sorry for his family, but this has to be a boring #### GD news day. What did Fox get locked out of the Locker rooms?" I really hope that whoever wrote that post never experiences such callousness on the day of the death of a loved one. To me...this crosses the line.

Let me know what you think crosses that line for you. Let me know the worst you have ever experienced. But everybody...like I said in my last post..."What would the NFL be like if there was no trash talk? It would be a very boring league!

Hail to the Redskins!

Are cowgirl fans the rudest in the league?
Aug 08, 2007 | 2:30PM | report this
I am really curious to see if fans of other teams agree with the title of this blog. Here is my reasoning for this...

Today I logged onto Fox Sports to catch up on the news from around the league, and anything concerning my Skins. When low and behold I see that I have a new email waiting for me. The title of this email..."Redskins SUCK". Now I am very well aware of the biggest rivalry in the NFL. I have been defending the Redskins for 20+ years against the, think they "Know it All" Cowgirl fans. But, that is what makes being a fan of any team great. The trash talking! Whether it is at a game, work, a local grocery store, and my favorite...in your car at a stop light. Just think what the NFL would be like if everyone just had nice things to say.... It would be a very boring sport.

Yet, it has been my experience that Cowgirl fans take it way past extreme trash talking. Just look at any message board. And I do mean any. They are like termites that come out of the woodwork to spew all kinds of nastiness. But I think the most common is, " your team sucks", or all nasty kinds of expletiveness. But if you decide to go and comment on their board, they constantly tell you to stay off the board. And as I found out today, from my email, just saying it on the board is not good enough. I was told I "BETTER" stay away from the cowgirls! I was called a ####, and told I could not speak until my team had won some games! To which I responded to JRO (and I am the ####???) that this FOX Sports, and that if he remembered clearly... we did beat them the past 3 out 4 times we have met. Hello!!!!

Anyway, after I responded, I strolled around reading all of today’s headlines and rumors. But here is the thing, on the rumor board, which had many article for several teams, was commented primarily on by....you guessed it, the cowgirls. Fourteen pages of their fans running off anybody who had something to say. I suppose that we are all supposed to just let them dish it out, but not take it. Nah, I don’t think so!

So I am here to do this experiment. How many of you have had too many run ins with these termites? Let me know by comments and I am also sure the termites will have their say as well, but I could care less. As a matter of fact, if you think that I will be silenced...you better think again! I am a Washington Redskins fan, and I have two favorite teams...The Washington Redskins, and ANYBODY who is playing the cowgirls!

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!

free counter I have been a Washington Redskins Fan all of my life. I come from four generations of "We bleed Burgundy and Gold" Redskins fanatics! I have three teenage sons who are following in this great tradition. I also am a huge Cal Ripken fan. Congrats to his Hall of fame induction. I would rather go and see a baseball game in person, then watch it on TV. My oldest Son is doing his best to make his dream come true. He has played baseball his whole life, and is being scouted now. I live in Virginia Beach, Va. I am a native, not a tourist. I work for Canon USA and I love every minute of it! I believe you should Love life, and Live for Redskins Football! HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!
