I don't know that Bryant has anything to prove other that he can lead a team. And that's certainly what he's done with the Lakers and team USA.
And if anyting he's proven himself and if anything Shaq just lucked out when he arrived in Miami. But in actuality Shaq has proven that he's nothing more than an immature individual.
Kobe doesn't have anything to prove to anyone other than KOBE. He's the hardest offseason worker in the game. He never stops trying to elevate his game and Kobe will never retire happy without another title. If he gets that one, Kobe will go after another one.
Some players get lazy after a championship. You will never see Kobe be anything but the most intense competitor in the game as long as he plays.
justanotherfan I agree with you that no question Kobe is a good leader and I hope that Bynum wouldn't be like Shaq.
According to the Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak,
"Bynum has been participating in basketball drills as well as getting his body in better shape with weights and track work. "Andrew has dedicated another summer to getting into the best possible shape," Kupchak said. "A month ago he was cleared from the knee surgery he had and at that point he began working on conditioning and getting into shape and I thought he looked like he has made progress."
I hope that is not only for the first two or three months or before the big contracts come into play....
Thanks for the visit and comment justanotherfan, my good friend your support is always appreciated by all of us.
Miss ND I wish that all his team mates would dedicated part of thier summer to getting into the best possible shape and to improving thier basketball skills and get ready for the next threepeat season....
I guess that is too much to hope for?
What I love Kobe the most is he never stops trying to elevate his game and do whatever it takes to win the game.

Did anyone else notice Kobe seemed to be the only one who actually sang the national anthem during the medals. does this mean lebron can't win a gold without Kobe? lets just say it was a team effort. just like shaq would have never won without kobe or the finals MVP D. Wade. it takes a team. not just a big cactus. those vids were funny :)
Go U.S.A.
Go Lakers.
