A no show for my kobe, but I love the way he guard the opponent , Kobe Bryant was struggling, he only finished with 13 points !!!!
But Kobe Bryant kept hustling on defense, and kept passing on offense, and his teammates fed off the intensity to turn a 29-all game into a 31-point blowout in the final 2 1/2 quarters....LOL
The U.S. Olympic basketball team treated President Bush and perhaps a billion more fans to a game to remember.
Dwyane Wade lobbed one up to LeBron James on a fastbreak, James caught it in midair with one hand and in one motion, slammed it home.
Kobe Bryant drove to the basket a couple of times for tomahawk dunks, sending the crowd into a frenzy each time.
And not to be outdone, Wade had a behind-the-head, back-to-the-basket two-handed dunk of his own.
With LeBron James and Dwyane Wade soaring for dunks that thrilled the raucous crowd at Beijing's basketball arena, the United States pulled away for a 101-70 victory against host China on Sunday night.
Wade scored 19 points and James had 18 for the Americans in one of the most highly anticipated events of these Summer Games.
Houston Rockets All-Star Yao Ming scored 13 points for China.
"Look, I had five dunks in one game. That's because of the crowd. Last time I had five dunks in a game I was like 17. So that's all because of the energy in this crowd," Bryant said. "I think they knew that history was being made tonight and obviously it was a proud moment for their country as it was for ours. You could feel the electricity."
"It was our first game. We were very anxious. We missed shots that we normally would hit. But at the end of the day, you win by almost 30 points, you've got to take good things out of that," Wade said. "We played very, very hard. We give ourselves a chance defensively every night. That's what it's all about with us."
"We came out a little tight. We knew that it was going to be a very emotional game for both teams, especially China, playing in front of their home crowd," U.S. forward Chris Bosh said. "We withstood the storm, we calmed down and we just played a lot better basketball."
underage??? i see you have billy ray cyrus on the playlist.... why not aky brakey heart??????? just kiddin when i was a DJ at a country music station that song was popular
USA didnt look that good to me, there outside shooting was horrendous, if its any conselation Argentina looked terrible as well. I expect a loss against Greece or Spain if the US is forced to rely on reaching and running to win, they need to be able to shoot and rebound against a team that can shoot, rebound and defend all things China cant do.
Kellyscott....our Nana read our blog about once a week and we hope for the best that the songs that play will be songs we grown up to: all kinds of music.
Yes, @ the start of the game Kobe was struggling and was the other but they calm down after the second quarter...LOL

Kobe is leading right now. He's trying to find his spot where he can let Wade and Lebron and Melo have the spotlight while he low profiles and as long as the children players can win, he'll stay low. Gold is Kobe's goal, not being the biggest headline. Kobe is doing fine and team USA is right where they're supposed to be.
What ignorant people don't understand is that just by Kobe being there this time, people like Lebron and Wade are thinking "Kobe is here to save us if we need him to" and they relax and play better instead of thinking this is much the same team including them that lost last time. With Kobe in the background everyone calms down and plays better.
"When the heart speaks, the mind finds it indecent to object."
Some just doesn't understand he is not with the team to just score a lots of points..LOL
Yes, Kobe first shot hit the side of the backboard and his second shot was blocked by Yao Ming.
Yes, He was beaten badly for a layup by Chinese guard Chen Jianghua, who scored his only two points of the game.
Because he was little overwhelmed but that didn't kept him from hustling on defense and offense that helped the team Win.

Kobe is like Wyatt Earp the Marshall. He'll let his brothers run the town until someone tries to take his brothers down and then he'll take over. That's his job. If they don't need him the whole way to gold he'll low key then entire Olympics and the haters can talk whatever. But Kobe is not going to show his best game until the medal rounds and he'll let everyone else do their thing and the opposing coaches will be figuring how to stop them and then when they do stop Lebron and Wade like last time, The Marshall will come in and clean up the town.
58 percent of Team USA’s points came from transition. That’s my first worry. If opponents slow down the pace, care for the ball, and rebound, they are more than half way there to defeating Team USA.
Because people tend to give offense more attention, I’m sure there is a lot of buzz over Dwayne Wade’s “perfect” game, but as you guys have pointed out, he certainly had his share of defensive lapses. THIS is what Coach K keeps talking about: gambling on defense. Wade gets his glory from gambles; he needs to do his role.
Quick observations:
- I didn’t think Team USA’s chemistry was quite what it has been.
- Deron Williams is impressing me to no end, on both ends of the floor.
- Kobe Bryant is playing small forward more than shooting guard.
- I thought Coach K played Kobe longer than I would have. The game was well in hand, and they have what, 8 games in 9 days? Plus add the time zone change, and the fatigue of being mobbed everywhere they go… and Kobe played very late into the NBA season… I’d have rested him most of the 4th quarter.
- The best pass of the game belong to Jason Kidd. The old dog ain’t dead yet!
- When Yao opened the game hitting a 3 pointer, I got worried. Karl Malone was automatic from that range, as is David West. If a 7'6? guy gets that shot, who’s to stop it? Bynum on Mihm’s shoulders?
- Team USA, especially Kobe Bryant, shoots 3’s like they are thinking, “I hope I don’t miss,” rather than thinking, “Gottcha!” This international line shouldn’t be a problem for Melo, Bryant, James, Williams or even Paul.
1) I can't wait for Sun Yue to join the Lakers in October. His role will be similar to that of Toni Kukoc with the Bulls. I liked the fact Kobe was giving him his NBA indoctrination by sticking to him like glue.
2) Before this is all said and done, TEAM USA will eventually need CARLOS BOOZER.
- It was great to see Bosh earning his minutes. I hope Boozer was taking notes.
- Yao looked like Ronny Turiaf there on the bench! It was GREAT!
- It was interesting to check out the newest Laker, China's Sun Yue. Kobe guarded him, and he shot a respectable 40% from 3-point land, had a steal and an impressive blocked shot.
- Rebounding was closer than it should have been, +3 for Team USA. How are these guys going to beat Spain?
- Despite Sizzel's worn out swipes at Kobe, Kobe didn't lead Team USA in turnovers. He tied with Jason Kidd, who committed his 3 turnovers in just 13 minutes. By the way, 2 of Kobe's turnovers came on bogus calls.
- Kobe's shot selection wasn't great. He never seemed in the flow of the game, which may have been why Coach K left him in for so long.
- I couldn’t believe the moving screens; it was criminal. I thought I was watching the Spurs!

LOL! BOGUS CALLS. IF YOU WANT TO BE TECHNICAL TOM. MICHAEL REDD TIED KOBE!! IN 3 POINT ATTEMPTS WITH 7.
By the way, I don't get your point about Kobe's 1 of 7 performance. Kobe shot 7 3s in 27 minutes, Redd shot 7 3s in 13 minutes. I've already said Kobe wasn't in the flow, didn't have great shot selection and was shooting 3s like he was hoping rather than believing.
the point is you KOBE!!ists would have us all believe that mamba is infallable.
when the facts are KOBE!! has been coming up very small in the biggest games, on the biggest stage.
for 2 years i've heard if this, if that, every imaginable scenerio. and in every hypothetical scenerio KOBE!! comes out as the greatest thing since sliced bread.
--- Sizz, I believe we've had this discussion before in one of your previous lives.
Looking back over what I wrote in this thread, I wrote that Kobe was:
- not in the flow of the game
- not shooting 3s with confidence
- not exercising great shot selection
- allowing Sun Yue to shoot 40% from downtown
- possibly wearing down from a long NBA season
... and I can't find one word of praise for Kobe in my posts.
And you are accusing me of promoting mamba as infallible?!
Wow, Sizz, are you succumbing to chronic bitterness or what?
There are people here who think Kobe can do no wrong, and then there are people like you that think he can do no right.
Frankly, when it comes to embracing reality, I don't really see a difference between you and the people whose bubble you obsess over bursting.
Then again, maybe having a little Yang around is nice to balance all the Yin, you know?
olympic...come on
