I think Spain will win the gold. You have a lot of one on one players on the US team, and that style doesn't translate well in Olympic basketball.
It's really up to the point guards, and the US has some good pass first point guards. I think it's the DWades, Melos, and Boozers you have to worry about. The guys that don't take a lot of smart shots and play very little defense. The International teams aren't the push overs they were in '92.
Melo takes great shots, what you talkin bout. Boozer usually takes good shots too, unless he is being guarded by a longer defender like in the playoffs. then he crumbles, melts, disapears like he did in this years playoffs. But hes with USA now, not the over rated Jazz =).
As some of the other bloggers pointed out, Kobe won't discuss Shaq because there is no point. By retaliating to Shaq's comment, Kobe would only be playing right into his hands and come out immature.
Kobe has already been recognized by the fact they gave him the MVP.
Shaq, whether he says he's joking or not, is simply bitter about no longer being a LAKER. He's hating, in a humorful kind of way.
Kobe has said he is beginning another chapter in his career and evolution as a player. By keeping his mouth shut, he is certainly off to a great start.
As far as TEAM USA is concerned, they will be dominant. Because of KOBE and KIDD's leadership and guidance and locker room presence. Teammates like Lebron, Carmelo, Dwade, Williams, and CP3 will be hardpressed to let them down.
If Kobe and Pau bad mouth each other in the Olympics, we all know that it's all in fun and competition and nothing personal. The will to win while representing your country is what will drive the two teammates. It's good for the game.

I think that Team USA will fare well i these upcoming Olympics. But it'll be dependent upon their mindset from get go.
Any underestimation oftheir opponents could lead to their own undoing.
The three teams that they ought to be watchful of are Argentina , Russia and Spain. Anyone of which should the chips fall right could give the US a modicum of trouble.
