Packed Up for the Winter.

We have to criticize because it's human nature. We have to point fingers because if we didn't, what would anybody write about? It can't always be ducky and peachy and warm and fuzzy. And it wasn't Sunday in Green Bay. Despite a spectacular football game for NFC bragging rights and a guaranteed second place in the Super Bowl, the entire nation got to see why a lot of people chuckled when Mike McCarthy was named head coach of the Green Bay Packers.

Sure, he deserves some credit for getting the Packers there. But can you recall a more abominable display of offensive play-calling with but 30 minutes left prior to your trip to football's Mecca? Yeah, Brett will get some of the blame for this loss and rightfully so. But one poor pass shouldn't overshadow the fact that McCarthy completely forgot he had a running back in the second half. For most of the second half, the Pack were in third & forever. Lawrence Tynes gift-wrapped two opportunities for the Packers to prevail. And yet on 2nd & 8 on the first possesion of OT, that guy in the backfield was invisible again.

Credit the Giants for seizing the opportunity. But don't be so quick to hang this loss on Favre. I'm still waiting for McCarthy to admit he called a poor second half. And I think I'll be waiting longer than it takes Jimmie Johnson's glass of water to defrost.

Farve makes his own plays- audibles, He has more play calling exp than the coach. The refs were letting Uminura an Strahan to be held so there was no pass rush just like last week. Farve was just too cold and you could tell in the second half he didnt want to be there. The miracle is over, this team is #### without Farve.
Congrats to Eli who finally will get some respect.

Canadavis, are you sleeping with Eli? He goes through 4 games w/o a pick and you are on his johnson. Remember all of the Vick hype? You could probably get a holding call on every play BOTH SIDES if you wanted to. Yes, we brought our own officiating crew....The gig is up. ####.

The Packers are a young team with a young coach and no one, I mean No one gave them a shot at the Championship game when the season started. They ended up being the favorites. So there is a lot to be proud of in Greenbay. Everyone knew that it was going to be cold and concentration was going to be key. Eli looked great and eyes were sharp all through the game. Favre looked missreable in the cold and as the game went on you could tell it was getting worse.
Everyone expects Greenbay to win these types of games.
But in the end This was the first time I would say that age played a factor in the game.
Packers being young and Favre being old.
But what a game.

First off, I agree with you that McCarthy is a HUGE reason why the Packers lost, but Favre has to shoulder a good portion of the blame as well. That INT in overtime was the worst pass I have seen all year from him. He wasn't pressured, it wasn't third down--all he had to do was throw it to the outside, and it's no INT. Poor decision or poor pass; either way, it's time for Favre to step down. But while everyone is quick to point out why the Packers lost, we should look at how well the Giants played, specifically Burress. An outstanding receiver who played very well under adverse conditions.

By the way, canadavis, I have been reading some of your comments, and I have to comment. I was impressed by the class shown by the majority of Seahawks fans last week, even in defeat. You are clearly an exception to these fans. This is unfortunate.

Oh yes, I have no class for saying Gb is not a playoff team without Farve and his miraculous ressurgence. I have no class for saying the Packers got away with holding and that is why two of the leagues best pass rushing teams barely touched Farve. Yes I have no class because I am speaking bad about Gbay a week after my team lost to yours and I had posts on my blog dissing the Hawks and even the man Mike H. who built your team-i.e. Farve from GB fanhood. Oh yes and to spankoffsteve congratulating Eli on earning some respect after a tough career start is not saying I want to sleep with him. Why would you say that? Do you think of men in tha way? Do you find Eli attractive? Does he unfreeze your tundra? Good luck with that. Thanks, goodbye
