ESPN filling for the rain: Mark Martin talks about DEI, Kevin karaokes
Jul 28, 2007 | 7:54AM | report this

Sitting here watching yet another raind delay in Indy...mother nature just isn't in to racing this weekend apparently. It is giving ESPN a chance to show their stuff as they fill the time that is supposed to be a rain-delayed practice from yesterday. They find Mark Martin, and ask him about the firt time he went into DEI, which happened to be this week. He said he walked in the door and it hit him between the eyes how much Dale had done for the sport. He aid looking at the cars there is so much history in what that man built and did, he is honored to be a part of it. He also made an interesting comment that it is amazing how to cars that are both chevys but built by two different teams are so different. He said it is going to take at least through Pocono to try and hammer out the differences.

Mark sounds happy to be a member of DEI...I just hope that it turns out to be a good move for both him and the team.

Then they did a new feature called "Who knows yo better, your Crew Chief or your Wife". First up: Kevin Harvick. His CC kicked DeLanas ####. Todd knew that Kevin got into racing because of his dad, was superstitious about watches, and neither knew that Kevin would be willing to get up and Karaoke to Madonna's "Material Girl". (Which I would pay to see...LOL).

They also talked about how it was the 88 team and Dale Jarrett began the tradition of kissing the bricks in 1995, and how proud DJ is to be the one who started such a great tradition.

It isn't even 11 a.m. on the east coast, and the rain is threatening to make it another long day (truck race wasn't over until after midnight last night...Congrats Ron). I just hope ESPN can keep up a quality and entertaining way to fill the time left open by cars being parked out of the rain.

ABOUT ME

turnlefttony
I was born and raised in south Florida, one of two daughters of a sports fanatic father. One of my first sports memories in life was wearing my Bob Griese jersey around the house when I was five. I grew up rooting on the Dolphins, and going to see the Dodgers in spring training when I could convince my dad to drive up to Vero Beach. That love of sports carried over to college, when I became a proud Florida Gator (back to back baby!) I have left Florida behind for an adult life in the DC area, but my love of sports remains. You can still find me cheering on the pigskin in the fall, but now I am a huge NASCAR fan as well, attending as many races as I can squeeze into my schedule. Nothing like the smell of high octane fuel in the morning! Who says girls can't love sports just like a man?
