For  all the  corporate  identity  sought  by  the  NFL   I  do  believe  that  it's  time  that  they  rethink  or  look over    what  it is  their  trying  to  achieve  with  its  new  flagship   the NFL Network.   On  site  personalities   Bryant  Gumbel and  Cris  Collinsworth   are  extremely  capable  individuals  in ther respective  positions. 

  Multiple  Emmy  winning  broadcaster  Bryant  Gumbel  provides   the  game  time  commentary  on  the  NFL Network  for  the  games.  So  far  Gumbel  has  proved  to  be  less  than  impressive  in his  new  position.  Gumbel  also  has  a  show  on  HBO  entitled     "Real   Sports  With  Bryant  Gumbel"..

But  to  date    the problem   hasn't  been   with   the  coverage   of  the  games    but  the    sheer   ineptitude   of  the   commentary  provided   by  Gumbel  himself  during  the  games.   As  embarrassing  as  it is  for  Gumbel  it  has  to  be  even  more  so  for  Collinsworth ! As  he's  use  to  working  with  real    professionals    in  this  sort  of  an  atmosphere.  It's   as  if  he's  asleep  at  the  wheel !   His  miscues  and    mistakes  have  become  profound  and  embarrassing    for the  network    and  one  can  only  wonder   what  the  powers  that  be  are   thinking  at  the  moment    as  the    network  struggles  to  find    its identity    and  assert  itself  into   our  mindset.   

Gumbel's  stellar    record   within  broadcasting   is  filled  with  accolades  and  praise    but  this latest  chapter  in  his  professional  career  is  beginning  to  look  like    farce    from  a  twenties'  silent  movie.   Where    the  laughs  aren't  sparse  but  pratfalls  are  immense !   The  only  pies being   thrown   in  the face  are  actually  bein  thrown  at  Gumbel  for  his  less than  average  work  on  the network.

For  those  that've  subscribed to  the channel  or  network    dare  I  day  that    you're  less  than  pleased  with the  coverage  so  far ?
