Nov 29, 2006 | 6:02AM | report this
Nobody says life is fair , but this takes a piece of the cake .. here we go again cept this time not only was Mora sr. correct of his assessment concerning michael vick ,but he basically gets the boot for tellin it like it is.... political pressure was overwhelming , and he was forced to quit..his show on Fox Sports Radio.... the Media is pro vick at qb ... yet his stats are in the toilet ..and he hasn't won ####  EVER... he also got a slap on the wrist by the NFL suits for his double flip job...   QB  is still a leadership position and his behavior warranted stronger action...and if the truth were known Mora sr. agreed with his co-host's description of vick as a "coach killer"....   help me out FOX bloggers is free speech in the tank???   and why is every one in the media and the NFL  afraid to stand up to this PUNK.???...

i dunno, if you mean he hasnt won #### meaning he aint won a superbowl... then neither has peyton, carson or breeze. if you mean he wasnt won a game, i'd like to mention he's 6th in win %. you say his numbers are in the toilet, but you might wanna look at his numbers again.

I think it's a lucky coincidence. Mora is as much a whiner and pissbucket as an announcer as he was a coach.

I'm glad to see him go, for whatever reason.

But you're right about what Mora said. Vick is a caoch killer. I hope he gets Mora Jr. fired so we can replace Cowher with him in Pittsburgh.

hey , thanks for the response i feel it's from the heart so i will just stick to da facts just like joe friday... this data is from nfl.com : michael vick qb... 291 completions / 149 attempts = 51.2% not impressive at all for a guy that's supposed to be a super human qb...his current qb rating is a paltry 72.1...the most diturbing stat is 32 sacks for 215 yds not very good for someone touted as sooooooooooo sooooo athletic... drew bledsoe got benched in part for his sacks and please don't go to the offensive line for blame ...vick wont be the first qb who they didn't like there fore dont block.for...as far as non stat data one need only to poll the 50 million fantasy football players who deem this #### un playable and as far as vegas is concerned the falcons are the least bet team because you dont know what kinda vick will show up ... .these are facts not fiction... to his credit he leads his team in rushing ...i look at that stat and say something is wrong with the picture...and you better address him flippin the bird which makes this punk both a team and fan killer .

While Vick may be "exciting" to watch and see what "he" does he is not a great QB but maybe a slash type player and we all know what happened to the original slash. Should Mr. Mora been fired for his agreeing with another commentator? No it's stupid and what he said was not so outragious that it warranted such action. There was no insults on Vick just an opinion and I always thought that objective opinions from knowledgable people to stir debate was the whole idea behind these shows. If its such an insult or far out comment with no basis of opinion then why is crackhead still on ESPN allowed to make his opinions? Fox sports sucks hairy balls....

To fire Jim Mora Sr over calling one of the lowest rated quaterbacks in the NFL a "coach killere" is unnaceptable! Where has free speach gone, not to mention the fact that he was right in his assesment! Mike Vick is a coach killer, its not his fault that he can't win, he can't learn the system. So they change the system to satisfy him and he get's worse instead of better. It must be the coach's fault ;).

The idea that you can get fired (resigned is the official announcement) for stating your opinion is ridiculous. Michael Vick has not improved as a passer. I'm from New York and I constantly hear them blasting Eli Manning for his passing (and rightly so). But Eli's in his 3rd year, Vicks in his 6th. Now, noone expects him to be as accurate as Peyton Manning, just be accurate enough for the offense to flow. Passing games are built on rhythm. Reciever runs the route, when he gets to the peak of his route, the ball should be there. But with Vick he looks to run as soon as he gets some pressure, and that leads to recievers not expecting the ball, as well as off throws.

Michael Vick is the best show in Atlanta, and the fans love to watch him play. He has a very high winning precentage and he can win you games. Remember, he was the first QB to ever win a road playoff game in Lambeau Field. He's played in an NFC championship game. So it's not like he can't do anything right. I think he needs to improve, but so does the team. Seeing as how he'll never be a big passer, they need to get their defense healthy. The two playoff seasons for Atlanta, their defense was very good and healthy. When they haven't been healthy, they've struggled, putting more stress on an offense not built to score at will. Also they need to add another tight end to the offense. Playing two tight ends will allow them to run the ball better (as well as get those scrubby wide recievers off the field. They couldn't recieve a lap dance at Tha Bada Bing, much less a football.)

All in all, the Falcons need Vick

I would like to see what Vick would do with Marvin Harrison or other quality receivers before I make my final judgment

I understand that Mora made the remark in defense for probable heat that he will get for the Falcons having a down year, but I respect him 100% for saying what everyone should have realized at least 3 or 4 years ago (I in fact have stated this since Vick came into the league and still stand by it): Vick is a terrible quarterback. In fact, he should have been benched in favor of Matt Schaub last year. I understand that I am a Bucs fan and therefore am a little biased against my division rivals but his numbers and play speak for themselves, Vick is not a good quarterback. It's too bad for the Falcons that they are trapped with his flash so they could be crucified for trading him by their fans. But any real fans understand it would be the best for the team if he was not their quarterback anymore. In fact, I have come across Falcons fans and heard widespread rumors that the "real" fans have wanted Schaub to start since the beginning of last year. It is also a shame that Mora got fired/resigned for his comments and a shame that his son might get fired because Vick actually is a coach killer. He's not a top 5 coach by any means but he is better than a lot of the coaches out there. If people cannot speak their mind (especially when it is close to the truth, even if many people refuse to believe it) then I don't know what this world has come to. As someone alluded to before, Eli gets ripped all the time in NY. If Vick played in a larger market then he probably would have been run out of town by now. But he isn't, so we may have to endure the babying and asskissing by the media over

... someone not even worthy of the acclaim he receives until someone in Atlanta gets tired of the overrated Birds having another "underachieving" year (by media's perception, they are actually doing about how anyone worth their salt should realize they would perform) this year and the next. And once more for good measure, I commend Mora Sr for his coach killer comment.

tigervidmar ...... How can a rather innocuous remark set the whole world assunder and it falls of its axis ? Is it me or are we seeing the sensitive side of the NFL coming out ? Or Fox not wanting to step on the toes of one of its more powerful broadcast partners ? Chances are it's a little of both as I can't believe they'd have had the temerity to ask Mora Sr to step down. Given a little bit of a push maybe but was it worth it ?
As for Vick he can't be too overly concerned with Mora's remarks as he's got major problems of his own. Like how to put a run together of consistent games in which he appears to play some flawless football. Sorry no can do Mike ? So what the hell is Arthur Blank and the Falcons paying you to do as it can't only be to put butts in the seats of the stadium ? The man wants results not excuses and not you decrying the antics and playing schemes of the coach and his staff ! 'Man up ' and play some real meaningfull football for once this season on a consistent basis. We don't give a damn about winning percentages if every time your team has a lead they then automatically have a meltdown in the process. If you don't get it now you never will !
That's my take on the subject and now it's time turn it over to Borat who's talking to Pamela Anderson about what it's like to take it on the chin from a man with a large member.......

tigervidmar ....... Fox and the other sport's networks are really getting it all wrong at the moment. An analyst clearly makes a remark which one could deem to be offensive but yet is concerned by this? What's the real problem as I'm sure both Mora's can fight their own battles.

tophatal once again your prose has settled my anger but not my acute knowledge of nfl handicapping . this is not a ego statement i have my share of losin, because when you have turkeys like the vickster one must leave atlanta out of the mix ... i wont forgive the #### for flippin the fans the double bird .. florida like your flavor... christopher i think of some song or singer ,but like your style.. and bayoudog you da man .. dat vick gots no brains or class and da trut be known when da criminal gets run out of da nfl des goofballs can lets him sit at da espn wit his butt ugly no-good con.. "michael loves my dope irvin".. who say i can say anythin i wants cause i got somthin on some one ... i believe that's true he gots some suit goin down on another suit.... and demonicume.. you seem enamored with this qb which is cool but the history of the nfl as well as our country... you can scew us or fool us but when we get wize it's screw them time .. the las vegas wranglers of the arena football league sighned shaun king yes the same king who led tampa to the nfc championshipgame where he lost it because tony dungy played not to lose then got screwed by the refs on a disputed call with wide- reciever bert emanuel rams win 11-6 go then to win big game...he started 16 games his 2nd season completing 54.4 of his passes for 2,769 yds with 18 td's and 13 it's he also led them to the playoffs i was at the news conferrence and was impressed .. point being vick's stats will be below king's but continue's to play i hhope king does well here and gets another crack at the show

We're told he's good and we've seen that he can be good in spurts. But when is he going to prove us all the doubters wrong by showing how good he really can be. It's been five years and counting. Surely that's long in enough of a learning curve ? Or am I missing somehting here ? He's intelligent enough and athletic enough to have all the skills needed to be a phenomenal quarterback so unless it's the players around him then the Falcons' organization will need to revamp on the offensive side of things. I don't feel that a coaching change is necessary as Mora is astute enough to know what's needed. Whether or not Blank is willing to spend the money necessary remains to be seen. He's already got $100m plus vested in Vick and so far the returns have been minimal. One NFC championship appearance game doesn't make the whole world. Guys like Blank want much more than " that " and what " that " is, is success ! As it's now , it's immediate and you can almost touch it, and smell it when it's within your grasp !

tiger-Regarding what you wrote, I wouldn't say the media is pro-Vick. I wouldn't say his stats are in the toilet. I have a problem with Mora being forced out for AGREEING WITH SOMEONE. That one is hard to ####. (Is the guy who brought that up still employed, I wonder?) As for the double-bird, he (Vick) is not the first person to lose his temper and overreact. We all do it. I won't hold that against him this time. Free speech is in the tank with regards to one's job in today's America, but so far still applies when being free from persecution by the gov't, which was the original intent of the amendment.

Now here's my take. The only thing Vick is missing in Atlanta's offense, and granted it's pretty significant, is a possession receiver who'll catch a few big third down passes each game for first downs. Alge Crumpler doesn't count. He's a very good tight end, but when all your receivers are small and/or down the field guys, third-and-eights become really tough. Crumpler would be a great compliment to a possession wide receiver, or vice versa.

ricko .. I don't know if it's anything to do with the coaching philosophy of Mora or their assessment of the talent that they've garnered over the years.
But it's beginning to grate on the nerves of those who really need to be concerned. Blank the owner, Mora the coach and Vick the marquee player. The latter two have the most to lose overall but also so does Blank financially. It's a damn precarious situation to be and I for one wouldn't to be in Blank's position as he's got some tough choices to make.

McKay the GM isn't out of the woods either on that score as he may well be looking over his shoulder. The Falcons' organisation isn't yet a runaway train but it's getting ready to leave the station without a driver on board.

As for the Giants that's really beginning to make for good tv or one those Hispanic novelas come soap operas. Everyone's now asking who's the villain of the piece ?

i feel every team needs help at certain positions and vick may not have the best recievers or this or that .but the truth remains his stats do suck... my data is current... lets see what he does this week-end in Washington against a marginal skins team .. the media is sooo pro this little #### it's pathetic... this week on the Bob Costas show the dorkster chris collingsworth was ast who he would take at qb ... vick or Vince Young he took vick... Young is a stud with leadership and atheletic qualities vick does not have.. Young is a stud at 6foot 5...bring vick all the talent you want... he will always be a me-me kinda guy ...the line ain't blockin and the recievers ain't catchin.CAUSE THEY QUIT ON HIM....you don't flip the bird to fans same as spittin in there face .. look at this thug at a press conference .. what kind of job could he get in the real world?? and i'm sick of him tellin us it's his team the players hate this ####.. i'm letting this guy get to me i'm through venting... go redskins..

Same old #### different day. Racism in america. if you're young and black and male you can say any god damn thing you want. Same goes if you're a ####. But if you're older, even blacks, white or any race or age except young black males and ####s you will get the ax for telling the truth. And the truth is exactly with Vick what that fat white reneck radio commentator said about McNabb a few years back. If vick was white his #### would be on the bench already.

Defending the rights of young black men to act in any way they please and justifying terminating, villyfying and exorcising anyone who dares stand up to "top's" #### version of life.Damn. You make me ashamed to be black. If my son had of turned out like you I would have put him in a sack and drowned him.

If you ever go to San Francisco take a photo of Top with you and have a cabbie cruise you thru the "Castro District". You will see a thousand black males all duded up like Tops photo standing around blabbermouthing like they are pseudo intellectuals and every single one of them have their eyes peeled for a kid they can give 20 bucks to suck his ####. tigervidmar .......Thanks for holdin' down my back. But you'd think that such mindless drivel would be of consequence. It neither concerns me as I've got better things in life to be concerned with.

Just trying to figure out what really went wrong for the Trojans yesterday. They had the game there as such for the taking but just couldn't execute the plays necessary to complete the deed. Carl Dorrell is one hell of a coach in my books ! He always seems to have the Bruins ready to play come hell or high water. Truly inspirational !
