Well well well! Lindros retires, I am shock that he would retire. But I have several good reasons why Lindros is not a hall of famer. He didn't win a stanley cup (1 attempt). He didn't want to play in Quebec (how ironic), force a trade with Philadelphia. His Flyers tenture ended so badly, when Bobby Clarke was the GM. The injuries was a huge factor, especially with the Flyers, Rangers, Stars, and the Leafs. He was once a great player, with a lot of potential. I really think it would be hard for him to get any consideration for the hall of fame. So that is my reason why he won't get into the hall of fame, I however do not control the Hall of Fame process.
Did i misread the headline or something? It said Roenick signs a 1-year deal with San Jose. I guess the last 2 seasons didn't really convince him to retire. Well I for one have to give him his props to comeback. He wants to get 500 goals (should have got it by now), and win a stanley cup (something that he probably won't get). I don't want to bash the guy, but I really think that he has played on some bad teams (Chicago, Phoneix, LA Kings, and Philadelphia). He had one chance in 1992, but Pittsburgh was better than his Chicago Blackhawks that season. He nearly did it with Philadelphia, but it was not meant to be. Roenick' is a media darling when it comes to issues with the NHL. He would make a great analyst some day. But bottom line, I don't see him winning a stanley cup with the Sharks. They have too many young players, and not enough veterans. One of the reasons they continue to be ousted during the playoffs the last 2 seasons. There is no doubt that Roenick will help the Sharks in any way. Besides he has something to prove to himself, and the league. As much as I want to see him win a championship in San Jose, I just don't see it! But if he proves wrong, than so be it
I noticed over the weekend there was a report from CBC, saying the Senators have fired Muckler. There was first denials on this story, and they are suppose to confirm this story that no later than Monday. I hope that is not true, considering the Senators just went to the stanley cup finals. John Muckler has been good for the NHL, and he's been doing a good job with several teams like the Oilers and Sabres before. I am very surprise to hear about this story, it is just a bunch nonsense. This is the kind of story that would turn the sportsworld upside down. I hope the story is not true, but I feel bad for John. I really like the Ottawa Senators because they always seem to have great players come through there. I hope Muckler gets another chance like Neil Smith. Oh wait! they fired him before the season started. Sorry Islanders fans I had to get that one in!!!
Well Mike Keenan is at it again! this will be his 8th coaching job in the NHL. Well all the coaching stops have ended ugly. I really hope Calgary is getting there money worth. I wonder what Jim Playfair did to lose his coaching gig. I mean he got the Flames into the playoffs. They did well in the regular season. There playoff series with Detroit was a very strange 6 game series. Well Mike Keenan has won a stanley cup (with the Rangers in '94), and lost 3 other times. But lately his other coaching jobs have not gone so well. This is an unusual situation, unless Calgary feels they are going to turn it around. I hope that is the case, but this one will be fun to watch.
Yes, It is time to go, old time hockey in Philadelphia is no more. Snider needs to resigned as soon as possible. But Bob Clarke did the right thing in handing in his resignation. But he should have done it sooner. As for coach Ken Hitchcock (who was fired after Clarke resigned), he did the same mistake as he did in Dallas. The players were tuning him out, and not playing well. The goaltending was suspect almost the entire time, the players were not even scoring that much. Only 15 goals in 8 games, your leading scorer: Simon Gagne. There Defense was just the same as they were in the playoffs, last season. So they never improve on that issue. Bottom line is, this team is going to have a difficult time making the playoffs. They really need a quick turnaround in order to save there season. But this could be the first of homesweeping changes Stay Tuned!!!
I already have a problem with this move. The owner (Charles Wang) is trying to run this team like a business. How 2000 of him to do that! Smith was just hired a month ago, and now he is gone that soon. There has to be more to this story. Neil Smith can always go back to being an analyst on OLN. This is just too unusual to call. The Islanders did not have a good season, last year. That will probably not change, going into next season! Which will mean Ted Nolan's job is already on the hot seat. That is a shame considering he is just getting back to the NHL. I just cannot believe Neil Smith is out as Islanders GM. To replace him with Garth Snow, Yes the same Garth Snow who was a medicore goaltender. He couldn't coach or managed my hockey team
Hey flyers fan! How is that you can beat everyone, but the Sabres. Lets face the facts, the Sabres were better than you. What's worst, Robert Esche didn't stop the puck (well not that much). Peter Forsberg was no where to be found, to some degree. The Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock vows that his team will be better next season. Well this team has not won a stanley cup since 1976. They have had 5 attempts to win it. But were beat by better teams. The Flyers need some playmakers and some goaltending, that is the bottom line. By the way Philly fans don't bother to comment (as far as defending your sports teams), because they suck!!!
Well it is time for him to retire. Besides his Kings will more than likely to miss the playoffs. As of right now they are still in it, but very slim hopes at this point. Robitalle is retiring, and so is Jeremy Roenick (who has not decided on his future yet). Well the Kings franchise will live on, but it will definitely be different. Luc was one of the best left wingers ever, in franchise history. Thank goodness he won a stanley cup.
