It is only a matter of time, before he is fired. But I cannot blame all of this on Sampson. Indiana should have known that this coach was a bad seed. He did the same stunt at Oklahoma, and nearly got away with it. Sampson's team is currently 21-4 (won-loss record) and they are talking about no postseason ban for Indiana. His chances are very slim to retain his job, at this point. I don't feel sorry for Kelvin Sampson, because he has only himself to blame for this mess. The NCAA is really going to give it to Indiana Basketball, if and when it happens. Bob Knight is laughing all the way to the bank, as we speak.
It appears that Coach Sampson will be out at the end of the year. If the findings are true, then he only can blame himself. Why would he do it again. Once you are caught for something it is safe to say the NCAA is going to be watching. Kelvin Sampson will surface again if fired. The coaching frat is strong. The bottom line is he can do two things well, recurit and x and o. He will coach again. I hope he figures out that he can not keep making the same mistake over and over.

i said at the time sampson was hired by indiana, it was a bad move for them to make.
i also predicted he wouldnt last very long before new violations were uncovered...i was a little off, as i thought he wouldnt last more than 1 year.
i think it's kind of funny (but pathetic at the same time) and quite ironic that the former president of the ethics committee cant seem to keep himself out of trouble involving recruiting violations.
i was told what he did at his previous job was no big deal, even though he made over 500 illegal contacts to recruits.
so he got off with a slap on the wrist basically, goes to indiana, and does the SAME thing.
now, what really IS funny, is that some indiana fans who couldnt wait to get rid of bobby knight have been holding up signs wanting him back in place of sampson.
at least knight didnt break recruiting rules (that we know of)...he just beat up kids, threw chairs, etc.

(1) The Indiana administration has to share some of the blame here. Though they didn't know the extent of the problem at the time, they knew Sampson was under investigation at the time of the hiting in March 2006. With the number of bumps in the road they experienced with the Bobby Knight/Mike Davis transition, they badly needed a smooth start with the new coach.
Indiana really should have taken a run at someone like John Beilein, who has improved every club he's touched at every level from junior college to Division I. Beilein will have Michigan contending for Big Ten titles and Elite Eight spots in two years.
(2) It would be fascinating to watch. but there's no way Bobby Knight returns to Indiana. Besides all the obvious factors, remember that this guy just walked away from Texas Tech -- which won't tarnish his legacy as long as he doesn't hop into another job befor the 2009-10 season. Otherwise, he's just an opportunist, the kind of guy that he almost certainly despises.
cuziffer makes a great point. He got caught at OU doing the exact same thing and recieved the equivalent of a slap on the wrist. The skewed NCAA thinking was to do virtually nothing to the individual but to the program he left. And as minimal as that may have been it put OU in the NCAA's spotlight (not that they haven't been there before). On the heels of the light reaction to the Sampson and recruting violations I would, and have, gone so far as to say that this set up the football program to take a bigger hit when they SELF-REPORTED the Rhett "Mr. Selfish" Bomar incident. If the NCAA does nothing to Sampson for this and Indiana fires him...Hoosier fans better hope that nothing else comes to light as being wrong in any other programs. Maybe someone should get him a cell phone that can only call his home, his boss and a travel agent...as he'll need one to go on the job hunt. Actually, he'll be coaching again soon provided he is terminated at Indiana.
IU has to get rid of this lowlife.
First he hoses OU and IU wants to hire him.
What's he made, a hundred calls that violate the bylaws for recruiting? Each call should be a game suspension for him as a coach.
The NCAA needs a coach death penalty. Kelvin needs a long time out with no commentators job.
