Well Bears fans, you finally done something right, for once. But this was long over due on benching Grossman for Griese. This should have happen last season, what took so long? I for one would blame his coach Lovie Smith for this. But the coach got it right, even though its 1 season too late. They are 1-2 (won-loss record) right now, but still have a chance to save your season. Sadly, i do not see a return to the super bowl this year. Heck! I really did not think ya'll had a chance anyway. Griese is no better, but I don't understand you Bear fans wanting this guy to be your starting quarterback. He was not any good in Denver, Miami, or Tampa Bay (who have a bad history of keeping Quarterbacks). So I really don't see the Bears doing anything this season. Green Bay and Detroit are off to good starts already, and I think it will be tough to catch them at this point. Well Bear fans, get ready for a bad season. Hope the Cubs don't break your hearts like in 2003 (sorry! can't let that one go)
If the Bears lose, they go back to Grossman. The good thing about Rex is that he's the 2nd best QB in the NFC when he's hot. The bad thing is that when he's bad, he has noone to look down upon, save for Tavaris Jackson. If Griese turns out to be bad, I think you take the gamble that you'll get good Rex 7-8 more times this year. After all, he was one of just a handful of QBs to post 20+ TDs last year.
I think that benching rex is beyond one of the stupidest things anyone could possibly have done at a time like this. First of all my friends, Griese is not the answer and never will be. Regardless what rex's numbers are, he was part of the reason why we got to the superbowl last year like it or not. We all know rex can be a great QB and we all know he can just right on suck, but I can tell you one thing, these chicago fans chanting griese is not gonna help rex do any better. If chicago wanted a complete change in QBs they should have waited till next season when rex's contract is up and try to get someone else. I just really believe that benching rex right now is a mistake, even if Griese does do well within these next 4-5 weeks, who the hell wouldn't, have you seen who the bears are going to be playing within the next couple weeks?
I don't love or hate Rex.
Face it Bears fans. Rex has the dropback speed of a drunk black bear. He's slow and his QB rating shows the overall lack of passing. The second half of the Cowboys game shows how much mobility matters. Romo destroyed the middle of the D.
Add in the defensive injuries, AGAIN, and you must realize the D can't win em all, especially when the D is on the Disabled List/Injured Reserve.
Hoping for the '85 Bears to rise from the dead just won't happen this year.
Blown ACL/MCL/AFL-CIO are doing in a team that was expected to do well. Death to the AFC!
Rex is not doing that well this year and they need a clean sweep of the offensive line. They probably will not make a .500 mark. Brian Griese will not make a dent, he threw 2 TD's and 3 INT's; one was intercepted on the goal line and another ran back 60 yards for a TD. This was against a very weak defense that was almost as injured as the Bears defense. I don't see any quarterback making a difference.
I was surprised they went with Griese instead of Orton. Orton has actually a number of months under his belt, taking a few reps in practice, and working with the offensive coordinator. I figured they'd give him the ball last weekend.
No clearly superior choices either way you go, but he has in the past shown signs of brilliance (before d-coordinators zeroed in on his rookie weaknesses). I hope he gets his shot.
