Well I am not surprised by Garner getting fired. What I am surprised at is. What took so long, he should have been gone before the all star break. But I really can't blame him in this instance. His GM (who also got fired) pulled some lopsided trades with Colorado, of all teams Colorado! I don't get this guy, they didn't even have a pick in the first 2 rounds of the draft this past June. What could Phil do about it, his hands were tied. His team didn't sign Andy Petitte or Roger Clemens (both gone to the Yankees), so he had to work with a not-so-talented roster. The Astros was just in the World Series, not too long ago. Now they are in the basement (last place) of the NL Central division. Oh, how the mighty have fallen, especially in Houston, Texas. I believe the Astros will be back one day, it just won't be any time soon. See you in the 2012 world series against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Oh, thats right they won't be there, either!
I would cut Garner some slack. I mean he did make it to two NLCS', won one of them, and made to a World Series. The beloved Larry Dirker never made it that far. I hope that my Bucs fire Jim Tracy(an actual example of how to manage incomplentently) and hire Ol Scrap Iron.
