I just want to say I was worried about Jr. going to HMS, but I can see he is very happy with his decision. I just hope things work out to get the #8 and it would be really great if the Bud contract goes with him. We'll just have to wait and see. I know it will all work out and I am still a huge fan as is my husband, so whatever happens we will be cheering him on in Daytona 2008. Good luck Jr.!!!!
This is like Johhny Damon joining the Yankees or Paul Molitor getting traded to the Blue Jays and then Twins. Ugh. I'm a Ford fan from the Kuwicki days and the only Chevy driver I could stand was Jr. Oh well, he joined the dark side, but all the best for him.
OH MY GOD !!!! What is wrong with you people...Junior driving for the enemy??? This must truely be a joke or a very bad dream I'm in. First he announces that he's leaving DEI, (his company), now this....This is the 2nd worst day in NASCAR history, the 1st being the death of #3. I hate Hendrick & all his cars !! I can NOT nor will I pull for Junior in a Hendrick car. When he wakes up & smells the coffee, call me...in the mean time, I'll be at the local dirt track !
I have always been both a huge Jeff Gordon fan and my second favorite driver has been Jr. To me it has never been contraditory. I like both of their personalities and both seem to be very genuine. I am very happy that Jr. is joining Hendrick. I think now that he will get the equipment and attention he needs, he has a good chance of winning a championship and now it will be up to him. Let's face it, Dale Sr. created DEI for him but unfortunately had not changed his “will” since he and Teresa married. Sr. obviously didn't expect to die so soon and really didn't expect Teresa to treat Jr. like that and cut him out of the business. I expect eventually Jr. will field his own Nextel team under JR Motorsports when he finishes his driving career and as long as Rick Hendrick is around, he'll have someone to help him out. That is more than his step-mom will ever do. So everyone should be happy for Jr. If you watched the press conference he was very happy and emotional. He really knows this is going to give him the best chance of winning and he and Jeff are friends even though they compete on the track and that is not going to change. Remember Dale Sr. and Jeff Gordon were in business together and Dale Sr. help Jeff out when he was getting started so I have never understood the hatred that Jr. fans have had for Jeff. My opinion is that everyone hates someone who is that dominant in any sport, it's human nature. Everyone roots for the underdog.
(continued from above)
Oh, and by the way, all the talk about Jeff having everything handed to him and Jr. making his own way is simply not true. Jr. has been as "privileged" (if you want to call being involved in the sport because of parental support) as Jeff. I don't hold this against anyone. I only wish my father had supported me in my endeavors. Remember, it was his dad who had to scrap it out.............Just something to think about..........I am not into bashing anyone for pulling for their favorite driver, even if it is not the same as mine. Just be loyal to your driver, show some class and respect your driver’s decision about his career. That is the mark of a true fan and true sportsmanship. I think in this day and age we have way too many bad acting sports fans and athletes and this sends the wrong message to the future generation (namely young people)who are watching. You can be competitive and have a strong desire to win but be gracious when you lose. I work as a sports journalist and also play team sports myself so I know what I am talking about. Ladies and Gentlemen, please enjoy cheering and supporting your driver.......but be a good sport!
just had to ad I was listening to sirius radio on my way home today and didn't catch it all, but Kyle Bush was on there he sadi he didn't know til Monday about this whole deal and also said he has not contacted any other teams, I thought Rick Hendrick said in the news conference that he had talked to other teams, oh well I am still supporting my driver, Dale Jr. But it just surprised me is all
Look Junior Slappys let Junior crawl out of the shadow of Dalr Sr. and DEI and let him becaome his own identity. It's great to see him in the Bud #8, but a change couldn't hurt. Let'em drive the 5 or whatever number they decide, and a new sponsor wouldn't hurt either. You are either a fan of him no matter what car, team, number, or sponsor he has, or not.
8929fan, yes it is at DEI. we went there in March when we were south and went to Martinsville. It was very cool there, have you been there? i have to say it was very cool, wouldn't have bought the stuff I bought had I known then what I know now. Oh well, it was a fun vacation
Its the last lap of the Daytona 2008, Kyle Busch in the lead for DEI with Martin Truex pushing him, Dale Jr in 3rd with Jeff Gordon and Jimmie in line. Jeff waves Jr to go high and the DEI cars go up to block and Jeff gose low with Jimmy pushing him past all 3 cars for the win.. Victory lane Jeff is asked about how come he didnt go high with Jr. Well I , I , I just don't know what happen out there, we said go low ?? I , I,, mean Jimmie new what we had plain to push him ca cas cause My car wasn't good leading but great for drafting, I , I just Dont know what Jr was thinking,, II mean the high side wasn't working very well. But Hey its another win for me and hendricks, and it was only 50 beer cans instead of 100.
teapot- I've been there a few times. I guess I'm pretty lucky, I only live about an hour or less from his shop. I have a ton of Jr stuff too. Oh well....
yes 8929fan you are very lucky to live where you live. Have you been to the new JR motorsports shop also. wish it would have been open when we were there. We have already decided when we get to retire we are moving down your way. People are friendly and it is great being in Nascar country. I would love to go to Lowes some day. I am not unhappy about all my 8 stuff I was referring to the DEI stuff I bought while I was there. Well have a great night and will chat with ya another time. Go Jr.
I am a diehard Nascar fan and in case you can't tell a devoted Dale Jr. fan. Wherever he goes my husband and I will still be here. We live in a small town in Mi. Try each year to go to at least one race. Our fav is bristol. But this year we went to Martinsville and are going to MIS in August. I work a lot but make time for my Nascar. We watch anything Nascar on Speed. Do like the outdoors, and love summer. Really am not a winter kind of person. I know live in the wrong state for that.lol. Hope to remedy that someday. We live for our family too, they are tops.
