Enough With Politics and Sports
Oct 03, 2008 | 5:53PM | report this

It’s been the age old expression.

"Never discuss politics and religion". Especially on a sports website.

And a couple of bloggers are living up to the reason why you don’t.

"Religion makes enemies allies,  and allies enemies................ and politics makes enemies of both".

- Xris M.

I know we've all been guilty of some sort of "spouting off” about our favorite presidential candidate. Some have kept their opinions to themselves and to them I say "Thanks". You guys have showed a lot of class.

One thing I will say is that regardless of who wins the election I personally will respect the office of the president.

One thing that people need to understand is that when you spew so much hate towards people that have a diverse and different opinion of what you have, you have already lost. You are doing the complete opposite of what the process of the freedom of speech intales. You are going against the very blanket in which our freedoms that our democratically elected leaders have tried to uphold. Freedoms that our constitution has graced us with.

To make the argument that all presidents are perfect is an exercise in futility. No president has ever been perfect. Not Washington, Not Lincoln, Not Roosevelt, Not Kennedy, Not Reagan. None! From a religious stand point, four Protestants and one Catholic. We know damn well Clinton wasn’t, in his executive decisions as well as his moral decisions. We know Bush wasn’t perfect. But I firmly believe that all of these men had the best intentions for the people of this country. I know they all had done what they felt in their heart was right. Regardless off what the media, the conspiracy theorists, or any right or left wing radical may say. They all did what they thought was right. We all may not have agreed with them, just the same way a Lebronist won’t agree with a Kobe Bryant fan or vice versa. I know that analogy isn’t on quite the same scale, but you catch my drift.

It’s not an easy job by any means.

These political discussions, scratch that, POLITICAL RANTS are making enemies out of friends.

And regardless of our favorite team, or our favorite player, or who the greatest is. Besides all of that, we are all Americans we all agree on that. We are all human. And unless you are a psychopath, we all are wanting for greater good for everybody regardless of their race, gender, creed, religion, national origin, or color.

The only thing I am prejudice against is ignorance. So lets stop the ignorance and get back to spewing our dislike for Lebron, or Kobe, Celtics and Lakers, RedSox and Yankees, Bears and Packers, USC and all of college football, or anything hockey, soccer, swimming, ice skating, gymnastics, pro gaming, etc....

Let’s keep the politics where they belong......

WITH THE POLITICIANS!!!

Hear, hear. Well expressed.

Vote "yes" on Prop 8 in California.

Preserve marriage.

Friends, countrymen. Do your part to maintain our values.

Peace.

Unless you're lying about Clintom who is the only president since Truman to leave office with a surplus in the budget, then it's OK right TCB/Volfan?

tcb,
Nonsense!
...it's a big, complicated world......
The only way to find common ground is to have open, honest discussion. Feelings get hurt, bloodpressure rises...sometimes we say things in the heat of the moment that cause discomfort.

BUT.
Honesty is the only way.
You've got to be true to yourself and how you feel about things to truly understand and appreciate one another...despite the difference of opinions on certain subjects.

Common ground is out there.
The way to find it lies in the
"don't sugar coat it......give it to me straight"
approach.

That's my 2 cents worth, do I get change?
Times are hard yo.

Besides just reading the title of the blog.

The whole purpose of this blog was to point out the fact that we need to leave politics out of the these blogs. Especially when it isnt done in a civil tone. People like Nique spout political bias on a "sports" website and arent mature enough to handle a contrasting opinion. Nobody needs to be called names in regards to opinion about their political view.

Example;

TCB:

"I like dogs".

Nique:

"I like cats".

TCB:

"I'm allergic to them and they scratch up my furniture."

Nique:

"Well, if you didnt have the brain the size of a dog your stupid dumb #### could get some benadryl!!! And you probably dont like cats because witches use cats and you think witches are from the devil because you are a #### Christian that wants to kill everybody that doesnt like God!!! And you only love presidents who dont leave a surplus!!! I hate you!!!"

Funny thing is, judging from her callowness, I doubt she is even old enough to vote.

Kobe for president!!!!

Bleed,

I totally understand. And you are an example of how to get your point across without spewing ignorance or hate.

But there are others who dont know how to do that.

Yet!

Maybe someday.

Spanky,

FDR was a great president.

But wasnt sympathetic to the plite of African Americans. He failed to support anti-lynching legislation, and didnt want to integrate the armed forces. His "New Deal" prolonged the great depression. Just to name a few.

No president was perfect.

Definition of ignorance:

Implying there is something wrong with a presidential candidate, or linking him to radical Muslim terrorism, merely because his name is Barack Hussein Obama.

So, are you prejudiced against YOURSELF ??

Whoa!!! Moded me!

Nice comeback! Just like all of your other GREAT comebacks. Real wit! How long did it take you to come up with that winner?

Maybe I'll come back with "I know you are, but what am I". Or the ever popular, "I dont shut up I grow up, when I look at you I throw up".

Worst,

Actually, ignorance is not knowing the definition of the word "ignorance".

So, since you dont know, you have proven my point.

But, you wont know that. Point again.

Seems like I consistently prove my points in my writing. In what way do you disagree with my definition of ignorance?

How do you spell "plite"?

"plight"

How about "intales"?

That would be "entails".

Apparently you are ignorant of proper spelling!

LOL!

Please dont tell me that the only clever thing ya got is spelling errors! I dont usually use apostrophes either there Mr. Scripps!

So you use spell checker.

Good for you. You still have the intellect of the quotation marks in which you used to correct my "spelling errors".

Didnt get your other attempt at wit.

Put it in dictionary.com's translator from English to Coward and all it translated to was BAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH.

What's wrong? No one to suck up to? The Sybil out of town for the weekend?

ABOUT ME

tcbdog
Lakers fan since the 70's. They are the greatest franchise in NBA history. Watched them at the Forum pre-Magic. Watched them at Staples during the Kobe-Shaq era all the way up to Gasol. Have been a season ticket holder for years up until this season. But was still able to make it to 4 games. I'm not part of the Youtube Generation so I've actually watched some of the greatest players of all time. LIVE! Respect people with a valid argument. Can’t stand immature idiots that have nothing better to do. Think MJ is the greatest player of all time. Nobody could do what he did. He was the quintessentia
l teammate and was a part of the greatest team in history. He could play every position. That’s why 'M'agic 'J'ohnson is the greatest of all time. I'm a huge Kobe Bryant fan. Love to torch Kobe Haters and won’t hesitate. Haters on Foxsports are absolute imbeciles which makes it way too easy. But having no class is the Kobe hater M.O. I respect valid critique. Anything done in good taste is cool.
Time stamping is done in Pacific Time.
