The NBA season is still in its early stages, but one thing is apparent, the Celtics are dead serious about repeating as NBA champs. The Pacers became the latest victim of the Boston Massacres that has been taking place over the last month. The games all seem to follow the same formula, a feel out process in the first half, a beatdown in third quarter, and then lots of rest for the starters in the fourth quarter. Last night's 114-96 pasting of the Pacers show that the Celtics are very focused and aware of what is going on in the league. You think the C's did not notice that the Pacers were fresh off a win against the Lakers? This reason alone virtually gave the Pacers no shot last night, but there is even a better reason for the heightened focus for this game. The fact that the Pacers whupped them 95-79 in Indiana earlier in the season sealed the Pacers fate last night. The Celtics were going to make sure that the Pacers would not have any illusions of pulling off the daily double for upsets. The C's don't like to lose, and certainly not in the fashion that they lost to Indiana the first time. Now as I said earlier, the season is still very young, so anything can happen between now and the start of the playoffs. Ask yourself this question, if the Celtics remain healthy and continue this dominant play, who do you give a chance of defeating this team four out of seven games? Remember to also factor in that they may very well have home court throughout once again. Friday we have another young contender coming in to town to see if the can knock the champs down a peg, The Portland TrailBlazers. The Blazers are riding a six game winning streak, the C's are currently at ten. Somebody's streak is going down that night, this should be an interesting game. A sidebar, the Pacers are having some week, they have faced the Lakers and Celtics on consecutive nights then they have Cleveland and the Celtics again to finish it off. Sheesh!! Catch you later after the game on Friday!
Yes, it's tough to win when you get 4.66 times as many free throws (28) as the visitors (6) through three quarters, and go 13 minutes and 36 seconds from the late 2nd period to the end of the third without a foul called against you, while during the same stretch the refs are calling 12 on the competition!
Looks to me like the NBA is "focussed" on supporting the Celtics!
I am a sports fanatic. My favorite teams are as follow: Celtics, Giants, Mets, Cornhuskers, and Hoyas. This has been my best sports year since 1986-87 when the C's, Giants, and Mets won the championship in their leagues. I have blogged among friends and now I am ready to share my views with other passionate sports fans.
