Eagles Defeat Lowly Bills
Dec 31, 2007 | 8:24AM | report this
The Philadelphia Eagles don't have much to be proud of this offseason, despite three straight wins to end the season.

What to be thankful for? Brian Westbrook. Kevin Curtis. Stewart Bradley. Omar Gaither. Correll Buckhalter’s continued endurance. Kevin Colb’s preseason.

What went wrong? Bringing in an out-of-his-prime Takeo Spikes. Thinking Donovan McNabb is still the same quarterback he was in years past.

McNabb has shown glimpses of his former Syracuse self, but they have been few and far between. The truth is, McNabb is a great athlete, but with all the injuries he’s had over the last several years, he’s no longer a great athlete. He’s average. That athleticism was his greatest ability. Take that away, and you’re left with an average quarterback. We’ve all seen that this year.

The Eagles need change to avoid becoming stagnate. Unfortunately that solution needs to come from the front office. I think Andy Reid believed too much of the hype about himself, and thinks that he can keep losing good players and still win games. These last three seasons have proven that wrong. And if it weren’t for Jeff Garcia, last year would have been a disaster.

Reid and McNabb are the two biggest problems with this team right now. You have a sheltered quarterback who doesn’t take blame… and a front office that won’t place the blame on him. Because of this, you end up with a frustrated team, where if things keep playing out poorly, you’re going to see a lot of good players jumping ship.

Rookie Bradley D's Up New Orleans; Eagles Win
Dec 24, 2007 | 12:32PM | report this
The Philadelphia Eagles and Donovan McNabb dashed the playoff hopes of the New Orleans Saints yesterday with a solid game, both offensively and defensively.

I heard a lot of good things about Stewart Bradley during training camp. Of all the linebackers, he seemed to be having the best preseason and showed the most promised… which is why I was very surprised when Chris Gocong got the nod on the outside.

The Philadelphia Eagles have made a lot of mistakes in years past when it came to the linebacker corps. This offseason was no different. Drafting Bradley was a great move, but cutting Jeremiah Trotter and relying on Takeo Spikes as your defensive veteran were two big bonehead moves. If you’re going to cut Trotter to move to a younger group, leave Spikes by the wayside and let the young guns carry you. A linebacker corps. of Omar Gaither, Bradley and Gocong might not put fear into opponents, but it gives your guys time to learn and progress, and time for you to evaluate whether they can play in this league or not.

Yesterday Bradley showed what he was capable of. In fact, the defense continued to be as solid as it’s been since holding New England under 30 points several weeks ago.

Romo Hands a Victory to the Eagles
Dec 17, 2007 | 6:12AM | report this

Tony Romo threw 3 interceptions and only completed 36% of his passes to help the Philadelphia Eagles pull out a victory over his Dallas Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t need their offense much yesterday as the hated Dallas Cowboys couldn’t muster enough offense of their own to get on the scoreboard. The Dallas Cowboys were held to two field goals and Tony Romo had his worst game this year, proving ineffectual against a strong Eagles defense.
