I am usually not really that into sports news, but happened to see the title and had to read it. I was a horse owner most of my life so of course feel a deep love and connection to horses of all kinds. I also had to put down my beloved horse that I owned 12 years so know how hard and heartbreaking it is to have to do it and what you will do to try to save them. I read this story and was glad there was so many details provided of what happened before and after...and how the owners struggled to keep the horse alive. It was very interesting and also somewhat inspiring. There is still good in this world. Thank you for this story and the how well it was written. It touched my heart. I never knew Barbaro but I will forever now remember what he has done, who he was.
barbaro was as funny and charming as seabiscult and the both of them are racing in the clouds.i am sorry you lost your best friend roy.roy it was your call that day he got injured, you could have put him down that day, but you didnt. i am very proud of you and barbaro.you talked the talk and you walked the walk.that horse was so lucky to have a owner like you with a loving heart.
Barbaro was a rare horse. he liked racing. He was intelligent, he loved the challenge. How do I know this? Go to a track and look at all the race horses. =Look pretty much the same don't they? All muscled, sleek, about the same size. But only rarely is there a horse that is "holding court" by drawing a crowd by mugging for people, making faces, you can almost see the smile? Yeah they do, the great ones do it. They know who they are and they know they are champions. Now diss that all you want but there have been no champion horses like Barbaro that didn't have clear personalities. It's called INTELLIGENCE and like humans, some have it, some don't. You had it Barbaro. R.I.P.
