More Surgery? Hold Your Horses.
Jan 29, 2007 | 12:17AM | report this
I have a difficult time getting excited about horse racing. I've been to the track and have enjoyed donating a few dollars to the fine people at Oaklawn here in Arkansas, but I have never understood all the hype around the triple crown. Maybe I don't know enough about racing to really appreciate it. Maybe I do know enough and its still not sparking my interest. Either way, I am intrigued by the media frenzy over Barbaro.

If you're not familiar with Barbaro, it's the horse that won the Kentucky Derby last year. He suffered a deep abcess in his foot and doctors are trying to fix it. I have a huge problem with this. I am not a animal rights activist or anything (as you will see by my resolution to the problem), but I believe it's cruel to continue putting this horse through the pain and suffering that comes with multiple surgeries. Even if they do fix his foot, this horse won't win a pinewood derby, let alone another kentucky derby. What good is a racehorse if he can't race?

I propose they do the humane thing. What's that you ask? We've all seen Western movies. What happens when a cowboy's horse goes down with a broken ankle or some other injury that renders it useless?

####!

That's right. They finish it off. It sounds cruel, but it is the most humane outcome to this barbaro mess. He's not going to race again and his quality of life is going to be in the dumps. I say we just take care of business and let the poor animal rest. PETA be damned. Isn't that what this is really all about anyways? Everybody is afraid of PETA. Who cares about PETA. It's a group consisting mainly of wackos with nothing better to do. How about they stop worrying about animal rights and start focusing on people's rights. There are plenty of people that don't have all their rights yet.

I've had enough of this SOB.

Thats right. I am sick and tired of this SOB amongst professional athletes. What is SOB you ask? Its the abbreviation for "shortness of breath." I have never understood why professional football players need to use an oxygen mask after a long run. These guys are some of the best athletes in the world. I am not a professional athlete and I can sprint 100 yards without using an oxygen mask afterwards. In fact, I'm probably a little out of shape.

Here is a great example. I am watching a replay of superbowl XXXVI and Ty Law was huffing on the oxygen after his 30 yard interception return. 30 YARDS??? I am calling out these athletes. I want them to quit being weenies. A 30 yard sprint should not require supplemental oxygen. Especially if you're one of the worlds greatest athletes.

Is This a High-Society Dinner Party?
Jan 15, 2007 | 7:15AM | report this
So the Patriots celebrated on the Chargers' home field by doing Shawne Merriman's dance and everybody is upset because the patriots lack "Class." Maybe I was watching a different program than everybody else, but I thought this was football, not a dinner party. I'm sorry Ladanian, did they use the salad fork for the main course? Did they put their elbows on the table? Did they forget to compliment your fondue?

Lets remember football is a violent game full of hard hitting and emotion. This is not golf. Taunting is a part of the game and it will be around until the game is no more. The bottomline is, the Pats taunt when they win. They do not taunt when they're down by 14 and a DE makes a sack. By the way, lets not forget who they were taunting. The Chargers are not exactly a Polo team so perhaps they should get down off their high horses for a second. They mocked the post-sack dance of Shawne Merriman. How classy is it to have a post-sack dance, particularly a steroids fueled post-sack dance. Since we're talking about class, perhaps you should send a few of your players back to football etiquette school; particularly the one that decided to keep a pats drive alive by taunting and head-butting a NE player.

As far as I'm concerend, the way Tomlinson handeled the loss came off as sour grapes. I undertsand the frustration. He was getting almost 6 yards per carry and they only gave him 23 carries, but dont take your frustrations out on the other team in the press conference. You can win with class and you can lose with class. (By the way, classy people usually dont have to tell you that they are classy).

You Stay Classy, San Diego!
